Talking All AM2X2 Junkies , AMD OcHolics pssssst...CCB8F-0720XPMW

Ok lets get busy. Ive always liked AMD and will never go Intel . The last Month has been Kinda hectic looking for the best OverClockable X2 for AM2.

After buying a 5600+ and CrossHair and couldnt Oc worth beans cuz of a crummy Bios at the time .I returned my CrossHair for a M2N32 wifi DeLuXe . It made my day when my 5600+ hit 3.1ghz on Air! It took alot of tweaking . The Cpu multis and the memory controler would act kinda funny. I figured it was the max for the X2. No way , I found that the TRC for memory should be run @21 to 25 which makes the memory the most stable. I also found that Asus boards like 3000Ht . I always wanted more ,so i picked up a BigTyphoon 120 heatsink thinking id only get to maybe 3.15ghz or 3.2ghz.Turns out the F3's whole problem is the memory controler not staying cool even if the CPU only loads to 47c! After a good lap job on the Heatsink/IHS not on meIt did a whopping 3.3Ghz at 25c idle and 46c load.

Like most Overclockers i wanted more! Just remeber one thing ,"iT aInt BrOke Till yA FixeD iT"

I became wise and discovered that since i removed my I H S from my Orleans 3200+ it wopped out a nice 2.8ghz on Air! I felt why not unlid my 5600+. I cut the glue just fine , even read a post that some of the I H S's have lots of goop and may appear stuck after cutting the epoxy/glue. I was at the point where it was cut but not off. A lil Twist here and There and Crack it was off! It felt like it came off easy even though i heard the cracK SOund .As i flipped her over i could see the wafer under the core lid They are soldered on,did i say they are Soldered on!The 5600+ now a simple reminder " Shoulda left well enuff alone!"

Well before she broke i took a screenshot and have a batch /stepping #

    5600+2.8@ 3.3Ghz = CCB8F-0711TPMW

So now what would you do ? I know lets buy a 6000+ why not! I called numerous places and kept bugging people to check stepping numbers for me .They thought i was crazy. I just wanted best stepping if im gonna waste $250.00 on achip to Oc the u know what out of it. It came down to this , a few people i know that work @Frys and Microcenter let me know when the new arrivals were gonna be in. I then went down and read the batch#'s on the chips for new stepping and 42 of th 61 chips i had checked all had the newest stepping.

    6000+ 3.0@3.5 ghz and Higher= CCB8F-0720XPMW....

Me and a few friends grabbed Three 6000's and they are all above 3.5 on Air or 3.6 and Higher on water !

Yes i Know that stepping isnt a garentee, But having the same stepping on three different chips and clock @Over 3.5Ghz and its 90soi makes me look for best stepping!!!!!!. So there@$169.00 each Now and i Paid $250 for mine three weeks ago after taxes! Despite me paying more at the time of purchase ,I like AMD and cant wait for X4core to put in this AM2!

I am still gonna try more with Air,Perhaps a ThermalRight Extream120! I am also going to look at watercooling after i find max on Air .

    5600+ Oc @3.3ghz with 3000Ht! AIR

    6000+ Oc @3.51ghz with lapped IHS/heatsink BigTyphoon 110cfm

3.5Ghz on air is very awesome

waiting for more results, and yes we would like to see this cpu under water and maybe something more aggressive, i am sure with some tweaks and extreme cooling like ln2 u can break the WR

Yeah! That's the one I was talking about

It's 4GHz bench stable, and was one screen of 4.1GHz... let me look for it .

BTW, out of this CCB8F 0711TPMW, the CCB8F is not the stepping, the TPMW part is the stepping.

I have a CCBVF 0713 RPMW and its crap, cant do 3.250mhz or more stable no matter how high I put volts.

I got a CCB8F 0717 UPMW next and it does 3290 on stock volts (Asus Crosshair volt droops) but cant get it stable above no matter how much volts and 1 core is lazy and far slower than other in testing.

I also think I have a bad mobo as I have had 3weeks of crap since it was built and I have tested all other parts but dont ahve spare mobo.

Talking Uh Oh here we go! CCB8F-0720XPMW

Havnt got Orthos loaded i had reinstalled Os and only put the minimum stuff back in.Then I oCed the Crap of it. i wanted to make shure it could at least do 3.5ghz -3.6ghz on Air because i was planning on using A THERMALRIGHT 120Extream! Then i found out my ThermalRight Extream was on BACKORDER ,So i drove to Microcenter just too look ,Yeah Right. I walked in with nothing and came out with everything

Just installed Swiftech /Apogee GT/1xMcr120/1xMcr220/665pump/and micro resivior/ im using 3/8ths tube and easy to route in my case or i woulda went 1/2. this should be enuff to cool my 6000+ if not i guess ill invest in a thermalchill PA12.3 down the road.I grabed what ever the Microcenter had on hand over the weekend. So i was limeted to what radiators to get for now. They had big table clearance sale so both Rads cost me $50bucks .I found thier last Apogee GT for $25.00bucks The 665pump $56.00bucks and the MicroResivoir was $19.00bucks and 1 roll 3/8green tube $10.00bucks.I really wanted clear, but hey 1/2off! I had fittings and 3-120 panaflos already.

So now im letting the As5 set up which takes a lil longer. was gonna use Ceramique but i just like As5. if it dosnt seem good enuff i can always swap it out. I left the Apogee stock unlapped, I may lap it . just means gotta Drain the thingWell im cycling the As5 @3.51ghz for now and in few days or hours maybe ill start raising the bar!

    my specs are

    amd 6000+ at 3.225GHz FSB 215 15X very stable!

Ok try this for 3.3ghz..............300x11 5xHT=1500 or3000mhz,This board loved it 100%stable with my 5600+ and 6000+ use 667 or 533 memDivider and use 1.55vcore ....Go slow Hope you have good Air or water!

Also set the (TRC )for memory @23 or 24. It allows for tight timming at higher clock rate and makes memory/mem controler a lil more stable on a ASUS mobo! Try Overclocking with the memory set @5-5-5-12 then lower timing after you find you Max CPU

F*****g ASUS M2N32 WS PRO. It won't boot if vcore is more than 1,35 and no chance to even boot with fsb over 240 at max multi. same s**t was with old 3800+ single core.

I'd love to recompile Gentoo on that 6000+@3.51 GHz. It would be so fast. I'd like to compile speed increase in comparison to my 3600+@2.8 GHz.
