OCTeamDenmark benches 8800 ULTRA SLI + Wather Chiller - 56K Warning!
Hello Xtreme boys
My friend Creep and I have done some 8800Ultra SLI testing the last three days. We have monted two EK blocks on the 8800Ultras. To keep the water temp down we have made our own water chiller with an old Vapo SE and a 80W peltier . On the CPU we used a LD Single Stage unit (nice one!).
Hardware:
ASUS Striker Extreme
E6700 (not the best overclocker)
Cell Shock PC6400
2 x ASUS 8800Ultra
Raptor 150GB
Enermax Infinity 720W
No more talking you want the pics... right?
Here we have the old ASUS GTX model and the new Ultra.
Side by side, GTX on bottom and Ultra on top
No difference to see.... But note the A02 mark on the GTX.
Nice!
Before we mounted the blocks we made the waterchiller!
Testing....
Watertemp 5.3°C....
Now mounting the blocks....
Here we can see that this core is an A03 core!
Almost ready to go!
We need more ice for good clocks on the Ultra cards
03 i running and we were very happy with the score after the test

Lookin' good
Very neat to keep the temp at 5-7 degC, with a cold amb and low humidity, you wont even have to insulate, awesome
If you have time to insulate the waterconfig next time, you can apply dry ice sticks to the "water", tho' you cannot use pure water, as its getting way to cold to prevent it from freezing... - some acetone wont hurt for short time use, however, long time purpose might not be wise
Awesome to see other danes in here btw

Hehe good to hear

We couldn't hold the temp at 5° therefore we added extra ice. I think the water was between 10° and 15°. Maybe dry ice will be a good idea, but I think the next step is two gpu pots and LN2

Nice scores
Best way to get cold water above 0C is to freeze a few 1 or 2 liter drink bottles full of tap water then put them in your res. That way you're not adding the water from the melting ice to your loop and when you're done you can just refreeze the bottles for next time Holds the water around 3c easy.
