How to Recover from Raid1 Disk Failure?

Say that one of the Raid1 drives (two total) failed. After you determined the failed drive, what do you do. Take out the bad drive and put in the new one? Go in the Raid configuration setup and assign the new drive as one of the raid1 disks? How do you go through the process of recovering this so you have data in both drives and everything is back to original condition.

Much much appreciated.

Depends on the controller you're using and how you have it set up. With some you can simply plug a new drive in where the old one was and it will re-build automatically, others will require you tear-down and re-build the array.

I probably won't have the answer for your particular controller, but if you let us know what it is, someone might.

1) Replace the failed hard drive.
2) Go into Raid setup and use option to rebuild the array
3) You're done!
