its gotta be able to wow people, and make people want it for its power not just cuz its been the largest piece of hyped vaporware ever seen.
and it aint real til it hits store shelves. and neither are any of these benchmarks. if it aint done on a retail board it dont mean jack. and most of you know this if you've been around here over the last year and seen all the sample boards just perform light years better than their retail counterparts.
i sure hope gary has a retail board and not a pre-retail sample.

Its final PCB revision, in full retail box, but yes was supplied by DFI to me last week.Originally Posted by Lestat
If my cpu would do 511x8 the board would do it, fact is 3.8GHZ is all this 6400 will do so im kinda limited by that. Also remember you are not limited to certain ram ratio's like on an Intel board, so clocking is different...you just need to pick a higher multi CPU and work within the boards limits.
Also lets not forget, i975 is FASTER than i965 even though the i965 does higher FSB's....you again just have a cpu with a higher multi.
Finally Gary has a retail board, his came from the final production run as did mine, but mine is pre used by DFI engineering.
If needed I will measure all voltages on this board to see if they are close to what i see in bios...really though I do not doubt the board as the voltage options are nothing short of incredible.

who cares about overclocking with low multi, after ddr2 800 1:1 the fsb is pointless anyway, and I prefer 975 anyway.

Tony, if it hasn't been said enough, thank you for all the info and responses. I know some of us came make some pretty bold or silly statements from pure speculation. It's nice that you correct us and point us in the right direction professionally.

Tony, can you show us pictures of the board in action, or does it interfere with the review sites?

Tony,
First: Thanks, I love the bios pics!
...It sounds like you're saying that it has lower mem bw per clock than the 975X?
You say that the chipset is hot. But it's much cooler than the i680 right? Do you have a killawatt or UPS to measure with?
Last but not least... Now when the nda is up, how is that Promise ctrl:er connected?
Thanks for posting so often.

the little vdrop in this MB is wat i'm looking for. as for the FSB wise, as long as is over 450 i'm happy with it ..

i think its realy cool that you can adjust PLL voltage.
wonder if it does anything.

So lets just say I wasn't as "extreme" as everyone else here. Would it benefit me to get this board over a 975 board if I had DDR2 533 because of the async. memory features?

NO THEY ARE NOT!, Get a GOOD E6600! Freecableguy ran 520*7 on the cpu that I sold him in my Sig, once you get a good Xeon, there is no going back to that Allendale crap or normal E6600/E6700/X6800s.and it needs to be able to handle 6600 and higher better than alot of boards do. the 4meg cache cpu's are getting killed when it comes to overclocking on lower multi's.,
I will put my L628B Xeon 3060 up against anyone here's E6600ES or X6800. Alot of the E6600s are crappy and cannot even do 3.7 and that is the problem.
Yes it will wow peopleits gotta be able to wow people, and make people want it for its power not just cuz its been the largest piece of hyped vaporware ever seen.
I am sure the DFI board is not going to be slow, but it might be buggy, like my AMD DFI CFX3200and it aint real til it hits store shelves. and neither are any of these benchmarks. if it aint done on a retail board it dont mean jack. and most of you know this if you've been around here over the last year and seen all the sample boards just perform light years better than their retail counterparts.

For the last time!
4 meg cache chips do overclock as well as 2 meg ones, just normal E6600s blow
