    Firestix 2x1gb D9GKX $275 @ The Egg

NE has these Buffalo Firestix which I have heard to be D9GKX (one review confirms them to be) for $275. Get them while their hot, no pun intended (EDIT: Confirmed D9GKX)

EDIT: Also, due to a recent post in the DDR2 IC thread, I hear that the following G.Skill stick is also D9GKX, care to confirm GST?

That it is. It does slightly better timings. But it is yet to be decided if D9GKX High Binned is better than D9GMH maximum binned (hints at Team Xtreem DDR2 OPB Ed. 2) Nevertheless, we all don't have $400 to spare on maximum quality ram, and 2gb of GKX for $275 is quite the bargain.

Hmmm, Wednesday I bought a 2GB kit of Crucial Technology Ballistix PC6400 from Zipzoomfly because they went from $279 to $249 & then yesterday I bought a 2 GB kit of Crucial Technology 10th Anniversary Special Edition PC2 5300 from Newegg for $229. I already had a 2 Gb kit of G. Skill HZ's I paid $239 for back when ram hadn't gotten so ridiculous. Now the HZ's max@ 4-4-4-12 is about DDR2 -1002 2.3v. The crucials do DDR2-1034@ 4-4-4-12 2.3v. I bought the 10th Anniversary sticks because people are hitting DDR2-832 @3-3-3-12 so I figured they'd be the best kit to run 1:1 ddr2 800 400 X 9 for 3.6ghz. People are also hitting DDR2-1100 or greater which I can't do on the HZ's. Now should I buy these Firestix? Are they a higher bin thus better overl:banana::banana::banana::banana:ing ram than the kits I've purchased. I'm only gonna keep one of the kits and sell the others. I just wanted some ram capable of @ least DDR2-1000 4-4-4-12 1:1 for when the new boards come out. I was unware when I bought the kit Wednesday that my hz's could do DDR2-1000. I was trying to use the 4:5 divider on the P5W. I discovered Thursday morning that using ther 2:3 divider allowed the sticks to do DDR2-1000 quite easily Now I just want the best kit for the $ I guess.

5300 GBGA is D9GMH as per Gskill Rep

    GSKILL 5300 GA IS D9GMH!!!!

Pekram is still confusing everyone saying its the "best IC" which is 100% WRONG!

It IS the best ic...its the IC that you pay for with close to 90% of the performance of D9GKX without the higher price tag...its like comparing a shelby mustang and a ford gt-40...the gt-40 is $70,000 more expensive but both have 500 horsepower, the gt-40 is a tad faster but not by much...same goes with the D9GMH...its a mass production D9 IC that performs amazingly well compared to the some of the other non-gkx, non-gmh ram out there.

What is your point? D9GMH and D9GKX are NOT the same, and as much as we want them to be, they just wont be.

This example is a clear situation where your symantecs of "BEST IC" just confuse people...

Whats your point here? What about D9GCN? What about D9GCT? They are "the same IC AS THE BEST RAM EVAR!!!!!11" but how many people here would want low bin D9GCN or D9GCT?

Not many. Now your comparing a V6 mustang to a GT. They might look the same, but they do not go the same.

Thank you for agreeing with me...

At the end of the day... its a mustang...and you'll be happy to have one at that price while your neighbour paid $$$ for his GT with little more performance.

I will agree though that those Crucial mem buckshot is recommended beats all of those.

Just give me the custom title of "Crucial Whore"

I love teamgroup also, but Ballistix are very strong @ price/performance

While people are interested in the best value, best value does not mean best product.

This is XS, best product is the best performing, and that (generally) is currently D9GKX, not D9GMH when referring to current production DDR2 IC's.

Obviously there are exceptions but D9GKX is the higher bin from micron, period.

With the level of pricegouging that has occured over the past 3 months...its difficult to justify some of the prices we've seen for the same ram that is now either $50 to $100 more expensive.

If D9GKX was being mass produced at ~$250...that would be the best ram. "Best" has its definitions...it means the best performing...but can also mean the "best" value/performance. The 7600GT was the best mainstream card out there...even though it fell behind the X1800gto upon ocing...that was because it was $40 cheaper than the GTO too.

Same occurs when you look at the "best" psu out there...the best would be a zippy...but they cost upwards of $300..the best psu that will run anything you throw at it would be some of the Etasis or Seasonic models under $200...as you would never really need more than that much power...so Best is all about standards...standards which exist for price, performance, warranty, overclockability, support etc etc not just for one of them.

If you can show me a ss where someone got a bad oc with Gskill 667 D9GMH...i'll pull it down and clean ALL of these threads up

Was looking at the spec of this kit in Newegg vs BuffaloTech. Seems Newegg has the spec for the other part FSX800D2B whereas it is selling FSX800D2C.
Looking up the reviews for the D2B part brings out a review by Virtual-Hideout
The spec for this part reads as 4-4-4.
The spec for the D2C part reads as 5-5-5 (source: BuffaloTech)

I almost ordered the kit and then cancelled after reading this info. If Buffalo has published the kit as a CL5 one would it mean a change of ICs?

im guessing they ran out of gkx and are now using d9gmh, hence the small model number change.
