    New 120.4 rad - Black Ice GTX480

Nokytech recently published pictures of hwlabs new 4x120 rad.

The sad thing is that it probably doesn't perform much better than a ThermoChill PA120.2!

Or will the increased thickness improve performance? Maybe this rad is a killer with four deltas?

    Time will tell.

With the pressure-drop BIGTs cause already... plus its thicker. I wouldnt hold my breath, especially as it still looks to be 30fpi like normal GTs...

I just built a second water loop. it improved both graphics and cpu temps.

120.3 is already considered major overkill, how do you think this won't? Another thing, the BIGT's already perform to inferior to the PA series that this still won't beat a PA120.3.

It does look to be about as thick as a PA don't it? If that's gotta' high fin count that'll be 1 loud computer. I wonder how restrictive it is as far as the water throughput goes. Someone is gonna' have to test it against the PA.
But even if it is better than a PA120.3. I'm sure ThermalChill can simply give us a PA120.4. Should the need arise. Though myself I really don't need a bigger rad right now. I'm very very happy with my PA. I really don't see how very many rads can match it. But still I could be wro....wr... er' a Oh well...LOL

Still overclocking and water cooling. Old stuff mostly... Still buyin' new stuff for my huge monster case though..(Project on hold til' further notice.or til' I suddenly see a fair increase in income. (Even then the gunshows do tend to grab me!!!) But really no new rig to speak of. Currently C2D E8400 on H2O Giga' p43t W/ decent pair o' ddr3 sticks stuffed in a old aluminium coolermaster preatorian case with a shrouded PA140.3 hangin' out of the side.Needs some bigger fans to keep up with this yuma heat though.. TX850. GTX460.Old yellow 1/2" tygon tubing adds some petina to the dear old thing. (As if it needed any.)Really nuthin' to call home about here at least... LOL..

24 channels would make this rad have a lower internal pressure drop than the GT. The reason all the black ice rads that radical53 tested had the same pressure drop is mostly because of the barbs, which makes me wonder if all the rads tested had the same i.d. barbs

In an actual complete system you would hardly notice the difference in flow between the black ice and the Pa rads

No, they werent, PAs are threaded for G3/8.

In any case, looking at the other images it definitely seems to be 30fpi like the BIGT. You dont need to be a genius to see where that is going, with ragards to backpressure on fans and what kind of CFM/static pressure you'll need to make these perform decently.

If I get one of these and slap something say.. above 130CFM I can beat a PAs performance? Where do I sign up...

I hope someone does a test of high-CFM rads sometimes soon after these are out - looks pointedly @ Radical - so that we have the final word on the relative positions of BIX, HE and BIGTX.

I'm sure radical used barbs that were consistant with each other.
By eyeballin' it,this rad does look like it is designed to compete directly with the PA's as far as the hydrodymamic's go.(It nice and fat,LOL) 8 fans would make a big diff. A server cube about 21" tall. Someone posted a cube up elsewhere that it would fit in easy.(I'd have to dig it up) HWlabs might just send radical 1 if he's got time to test it for us. This forum does carry alotta' weight when it comes sellin' products to overclockers who want the best stuff they can get.
So if they got winner they just might.send him 1.I've been readin' up here along time before I ever joined. And alot of my buy's are based on the general consenus from this forum.(I just don't post alot.)

Yes, with 8 SanAces you might just beat a PA120.3... but then the fans will push the cost above that of a PA120.3 w. 3 YLs >.>

But that's alot of money and alot more werk makes it more complicated. For my use I don't think I'd see much of a diff.(None)

Well, let's look at the facts and don't draw conclusions on speculations...

What do you currently know about the GTX? Zip.

What do you assume? Too much!

Come on guys, you are better than that!

Personally I'd only get this if I wanted complete silence, in which case I'd throw on 8 yate loons 7volted.

If you have a cooling question or concern feel free to contact me.

pa would beat it in both performance and silence. this rad with its thickness and fpi would brickwall the fans. so pa120.3 would be much better for ya. for everyone really.

And why not get a PA120.3 and just 3 yates...?

I doubt that this rad is made for a "complete silent" setup. My

If you wanted COMPLETE silence you'd just get a PA120.3 with yates @ 3v or something retarded since yateloons are dead silent and push no air @ 12v anyway. Yates can't even get air through my BIP3, good luck with this GTX thing. OR just get a 20 gallon bucket.

In my opinion it's selling point will be the "xtreme" factor and aesthetics (of course it going to be an external mount) rather than pure performance.

It will be a good choice for deaf oc'ers also...

the length of that rad is exactly the length of the top of my armor. (where i was going to position either a gts3 or pa120.3)

    looking forward to reviews/comments/availability numbers.
