    News: X1950XTX price

First Radeon X1950XTX should be available to the re-entry. They will use memory GDDR4 and will be more powerful than the current X1900XTX from approximately 7%. Lastly, the system of cooling would be less noisy.
Approximate price should be ~400 Euro

It would be very interesting if these had the composition chip. That would mean no mastercard required for CF.

only 400 euro? sounds fishy. X1900XTX costs like 450 euro today, oh well it's still a while until it's launched.

Yeah and it was posted before - just in other thread

Perhaps die shrink will help ATI to reduce core cost -> card`s price.

the r580+ is still a 90nm chip so cost and heat issues should be the same.

Hmmm...would they go to all that trouble to make a different cooler for just one card ?

I think that the new cooling solution may be the one ATI has developed for the R600, knowing how much hotter that'll be. Because I don't think they'd develop a whole new one just for one card, espeically a card that won't matter in 6 months time.

I agree, with them stating the R600 is their hottest running card to date I am sure they have a new cooler for it as the current cooler on the X1900 barely keeps it at acceptable temps in hot weather.

I am sure they will just modify the cooler with a new sticker for the R600 as well as possibly change the way it mounts if anything is in the way on that card. Who knows, this is all speculation like everything else at this point.

Oh and here's what the 7950GX2 costs in Europe: http://www.kelkoo.de/ctl/do/search?s...m=true&x=0&y=0

By that estimate the X1950XTX has a pretty clear margin of success to the untrained mind:

"Cool, the most powerful card from ATI is cheaper !!! Gonna buy that !!" -> Doesn't know he's getting half the GPUs. The "950" in both names is enough to lead people to such a conclusion.

To ATI's credit, single X1900XT will continue to be the best cost effective play all render all single card solution for some time to come.

umm the site I use shows.. http://geizhals.net/eu/?fs=7950+gx2&x=0&y=0&in=

note it's the lowest price a site offers to the right but still, the cheapest 7950 GX2 can be had for around 500€. If X1950XTX is gonna cost ~400€ it's gonna be a very good price vs performance card but honestly, I don't think that many people will buy a new highend DX9 card now when DX10 cards are here soon.

Maybe they already have a cooler for R600 and they just put it on R580+ also

I think ppl will be informed about double GPU For regular user that will be a reason to pay 100 euro more

I think that is the price of the card, memory, and Chip minus the cooler
Fast computers breed slow, lazy programmers
The price of reliability is the pursuit of the utmost simplicity. It is a price which the very rich find most hard to pay.

2GHz Memory GDR4, nice! Thats some sick bandwidth right there

Wonder how much this will improve things at high resolutions. Didn't B3D speculate that the x1900s could do much better with more mem bandwidth?

My x1800xt is having trouble keeping up in 1680x1050 in certain games, been trying to decide to upgrade or not to an x1900/x1950 card.

X1950 XTX and X1950 CF will have same clocks

    650MHz core and 2.0GHz DDR4 512MB memory

FOR the first time, ATI plans to make Crossfire and the XTX cards clock at the same speed. Both the upcoming Radeon X1950 XTX and Radeon X1950 Crossfire Edition will end up clocked at 650MHz core and 2.0GHz DDR4 512MB memory.

If everything goes well for ATI, this will be the last high end Crossfire edition card as the R600 has everything it needs to pair two cards without any necessity for a Crossfire card.

The card will retail for $449 in the US and will be sold for some €409 in European retail, but will display a tendency to fall below €400.

We can now confirm that the cards will be ready for the 23rd of August but as the clock speed stays the same, don’t expect any miraculous performance increase. We've already written about it here.

The enquirer posted that the X1950XT was going t use the fastest DDR3 mem, and also they posted that the X1950XT was supposed to have foue dual-link DVI ports, so yea cooling is a issue.

the prices u found there are correct but the cheapest 2 7950GX2s costs below 500 euro.
    http://www.geizhals.at/deutschland/a203690.html

and ofc the x1950xtx has a chance to be a success but to conclude this by compairing the 7950 currents price with the price of a product that is stil yet to be released is impossible to say.
As the X1950 might just wel cost more as the rumored 409 euro for the first month orso.
And the 7950GX2 might just as well drop in price as a few weeks ago i saw a store stunt with 7950GX2 for 444 euro.
