Hey, I've got a question, which RAM Do you use for your rig? I'm considering to buy a Asus M2N-E for my AM2 rig and a Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4 pair of sticks [800mhz, 1gb * 2 sticks] but im reallllly afraid of compatability issues... and I won't even be able to RMA it if it wont work, this is a one try thing........ can't affored to go wrong, so any advice would be appreciated, i'd like to stay within the 250$ budget range for RAM too.

So I finally got around to vdimm-modding my board. There's vcore-mod left to be done, but that will happen a bit later... Just wanted to drop by and add couple photos here:

I have only started testing it, but so far got some nice results with 2.70v Thanks again for help, guys

    Nice thread

I was wondering what should be the resistance values I should have to have my M2N-E (max 1.95v vdimm) offer UP to 2.3v

    Thanks in advance

Well, you can use exactly the same 20k trimmer. In this very thread ^don.k's^ did this vmod on his M2N-E. Just preset it at 20k before soldering in and then reduce resistance to raise volts.

hi guys, can you please tell me to what you have connected the other wire from the resistor? i cant see it from the pictures.
And second note, i cannot boot with vdimm higher than 2.4V but its stable at 2.3V ad ddr2 520 (Corsair ddr2 667 2*1GB ram)
    anyone with same problem?

I have not done vcore mod myself yet, but have you also looked at the 1st pic that ^don.k's^ added in post #22. The top soldering pad I marked on my pic was the one I was not sure about. I was waiting for someone to confirm that since ^don.k's^ marked the very very top one. Now,that I think about it, the soldering pad he marked is the correct one...

    hello
i was wondering if a 50k VR wud work. and if i set settings in the bios to 1.8v, wud the actual voltage be like 1.95v depending on the resistor i use.
    wud this 50K work: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...2201&criteria=

    or this 25k: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...6499&criteria=

    or what about this 22k

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...ia=22k&doy=2m9

which one s the best. i wud like to have a min of AT LEAST 1.9v becoz that is my rams rating

Here is correct spot for vcore mod:

And the reading spot for vcore is also bad, the another leg of choke is the right one (Asus M2N-E)

Sorry, i didnt tested the vcore mod myself, i marked the points that were the same. I think my error was that i marked pin #8, now that attached pics of persivore has gone, i dont know exactly. My fault

hmmmm, vdrop is 0.04V in idle-load amp (if I set 1.75V vcore in load I will get ~1.71V, measured by voltmeter), any suggestion how to resolve this?

p.s. Power supply isn't responsable, 12.3V is knocked in case idle-load, for PS, idle load is the same (OCZ Power Stream).

Hello folks... I'm trying to set up a 1gb stick from Advance Modules on a M2N-E but it won't even post, "long beep + short beeps", at first I thought was vga related but reading about the mobo I now think its the vdimm too low to boot. Unfortunately I don't have another stick around for testing...
I thought about just raising voltage a notch to see if it boots (supposedly the latest bios helps with memory stability), I just want to update the bios and see if it handles the memory at default (customer board, cant send it modded)
Would a "temporary mod" work? Is it possible to do it without soldering the chip leg? (remembering it would be only for a few minutes)
Last minute: what resistance necessary to get around 2.1-2.2V ?

i have the same question as nobre,
what resistance is recessary for 2,2v more or less?
Parkie, what resistance did you use for getting that 2.3V?

On the cap i can't measure anything too. Any ideas out there? I really need it, bcs. i have some strange Vcore "problems" with new 65nm Singlecores.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

the place for Vcore IS exatly vhere the pix shows it, i had that board and it was measurable at that point. Just place one leg to ground and anothe on the base of that coil, but be carefull to touch the coil, coz near the end its covered by some insulation crap...

Thx, but normally i know how to mesure.

But i can't get anything from this leg, don't know why.. Vdimm mesuring works fine. Already tried to get the insulation off the leg, but there was none.

Will try it one more time, but i think it's pointless.

Try to measure the voltage at the backside of the board; some coils are really very good insulated...

    I bet that will work
