    Thermalright Ultra-120 ... anyone?

Anyone heard when this is coming out and does anyone know how well it performs? Or has it already come out? I can't find much...read about it at ces a ways back..it looked promising...so did many of the heatsinks at cebit that haven't come out, like a huge dual fan heatsink from arctic cooling, and some asus fan looked ok..I wish i had the cebit hanover link or however u spell it.

Damn, that thing is damn heavy for an all-aluminum sink. Is that 8 heatpipes?

I reviewed an Ultra-90 and it beat out my XP-90 by 2-3ΒΊC load, so expect this to be a bit better than the XP-120

ultra-90 is 92mm :-( yuck, I want the Ultra-120! It seems like it is available in countries that don't speak english...meaning you can buy it and they have reviews, but I can't understand it..weird...and Ivan yea it has 8 heat pipes although they classify it as 4...

the pipes probably go all the way through the base, which is why they say it's only 4.

Well I was gonna say the ultra-90 almost beat a xp90c and the ultra-120 is 70% more weight and with a 120mm fan it can cool about twice as much surface area so it'd be difficult to say the 120 wouldn't be better then a 90c...hrm

I just ordered a Ultra-120 from jab-tech.com - need a better CPU heatsink until I setup water cooling again when Conroe arrives (or atleast the new Asus boards for Conroe)

reviews seemed promising, and its Thermalright, you really can't go wrong with them after how good the XP-120 was way back when (before the warped base issue came up)

    ultra 90c or 120c

Oh don't get me wrong, no matter what it took to stabilize and mount the thing you can bet I'd take a 120C if it came out. I just suspected it would be easier and more mass market to get a ultra 90C out to us.

But yeah a 120C would be really, really nice.

I'm guessing you've got that back 120 fan set as an intake so you've got fresh air right on the sink? If so you've come pretty close to a push pull fan setup which is basically how I'd set up the ultra 120. The upright heatsinks are very conducive to push pull setup and that really extracts the max from them, imo. Be careful of the weight of course

I really hope they can manage some copper variants. The 90C was about 2-3 degrees better than the XP 90 and that put the 90C at or better than the XP 120 (depending on fans really). An ultra 90C would be fantastic with a push pull fan system. But this ultra 120 is no slouch it seems.

I'm thinking this is just about in the territory of a "mid" grade water system in terms of cooling. Those pressies are none too easy to keep cool.

    Nice job!

This Ultra-120 seems like a Tt BT killer already, if it were to become all copper.. whoa.

the fan on the back is exhausting, and the fan on the heatsink is blowing through it - i have 3 120mm fans in the front of the case, which is plenty of fresh air

and GL with thermalright making a copper version of the Ultra-120, that woud probably weigh about 3-4 pounds, and the aluminum version already weighs a decent amount already

anyone know if it will screw straight into a standard bracket? I'm hitting 60C+ on load here (Crappy Akasa cooler), and need something like this.

Damn asrock for limiting me in my choice of HS/F

yes it just uses the standard AMD backplate, but you'll have to remove the top half to install the cooler and its mount

    I do realize

I know an ultra 120C would be horrific in weight, and yes likely just plain impossible.

An ultra 90C however would weigh about what the ultra 120 does now if my calculations are about correct. And it would likely outperform the ultra 120 as well.

I wonder how many cases can actually fit the ultra 120. Hopefully mine will
