    Mike047....

    I thought those here should be aware of the following post by Mike today at another project forum - I hope he doesn't mind me posting, but he has been a friend and inspiration to many teams and many projects.

    I'm sure that many of us here would like to wish him a speedy and full recovery

    For those that might be interested;

    My lack of project participation was due to last Sunday being transported to the local hospital for emergency surgery. I had a ruptured tumor[benign] in my stomach. Internal bleeding was very great, to the point that I required 7 units blood and 5 units plasma plus continuous IV's for 6 days. I am again at home and have turned on about 36 cores so far and more as I am able.

    I am going to be fine but will require several weeks to get back to normal.

    I don't know you, but nevertheless, I have four things to say:
    1) I pray you have someone that can bring you real food!
    2) Take care of yourself. The world, your family, and your friends need you!
    3) Be kind to the nurses. They give the needles and have access to the pain killers!
    4) GET WELL SOON!!!

    THANKS Guys and Gals

    Short summary of the events;

    Last Sunday, after about two weeks of feeling like crap, I had to call 911.

    I was transported with a rupture tumor[benign] in my stomach. Over the last week, I received 7 units whole blood, 5 units of plasma and a 6 day continuous IV's.

    I was fortunate in that I was able to rapidly be scheduled for surgery on Monday morning.[There was an issue with getting enough blood in me, I had almost bled out. A mans hemoglobin level is about 13 and mine was less than a six.] By about mid day Monday I was out of surgery and back in my room.

    They cut me vertically from the bottom of the belly button upward about 5 inches. Then my stomach was apparently pulled up through the hole and a large chunk of my stomach was removed along with the tumor. Tumor was only about 3/4 inch in diameter.

    I can't count how many staples I have as I cant see them all, there is a spiral in the belly button

    I came home yesterday, slept fairly well last night and have restarted a semi-normal routine, I can get around well enough without help....just slow

    Couple of weeks, without complications, and I should be good to go.

    If you are not aware, check your crap every day..and if it is BLACK[which mine was] go immediately to the doctor. I had noticed mine a week previous and had blown it off as some cake that I had eaten with a real dark color as the culprit.

    The morning that I went to the hospital, when I got up I knew I was in serious trouble, and laid back down, made my plan of attack, and in several tries got everything in order[crunchers off], called 911, and locked the house, sat down on the porch, waited 7 min. for the volunteer fire responder, and about one more min. for the county EMT[two nice ladies...one BIG one and one small one]. They immediately put a 14 gage port in my arm[I still have a huge bruise] and put 2 units of IV in me. Off to the Hospital....

    Another 12 hours more or less and I probably would not have made it......I guess that maybe there is still something left for me to do in the world

    CRUNCH HARD, it may not help me and you, but it might help the Kids.
