I forgot the deal with AM2.
My question is: Do the AM2 mobos come with back plates, the kind you can screw screws into like 939?
Thanks,
OPP

Yup, my foxconn c51 came with a backplate, very nice!!!! .
Most of the good ones do, but some of the cheaper ones probably have pushpin based heatsink brackets. Of course these backplates are different from the 939 ones since they have 4 holes instead of 2.
Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P//Dell Latitude D620
Phenom II BE 940//Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz
2x2GB OCZ Reaper//1GB PC5400
640GB WD Blue//80gb 7200 rpm hdd
Radeon 4850//Geforce 7300 Go
The DFI Infinity UltraII-M2 uses those stupid plastic pin...thingies?
Most MOBOs come with the brackets with the screws but there are a few that don't come with brackets or have there own bracket but doesn't use screws to hold it in place but use plastic clips.
damn opp where ya been? also 939 and am2 coolers ( with the clip attatchment ) all work, i.e. a64 freezer pro
mobo: strix b350f

hdd's: samsung 500gb ssd 1tb & 3tb hdd
Yeah all the 590 boards should have them, the reference design does for sure. I'm guessing OPP got his hands on a k10
Phenom II 940 BE / ASUS M4A79 / HD5770 Crossfire
3770mhz CPU 2600mhz NB | DDR1040 5-5-5-15 | 900/1250
My ABiT AM2 mATX mobo has a very solid metal backplate.
OPP doesn't know what K10 is....?
K10 is the code name for next gen of AMD cpus, the current CPU's are K8
Hm, i am getting a bit unsure, but when i mean CPU's i mean architecture, and the architecture that was suppose to be K9, was not enough different from K8, to get its own code name.
But in some way you can call AM2 CPU's K9, or K8+
Gotcha.
As i wrote it, i got unsurre, so correct me if i am wrong
And sorry for the bad english, i hope it is understandable.
I've had my K9 for 7 days now, doesn't run too fast or it gets speed wobbles.
And I don't seem to be able to overclock the damn thing.
I thought they couldn't use K9 because of some kind of copyrights on it.
