How-to guide: Lian-Li C-01 DVD Bezel into a TJ07

I always liked the clean look of the Lian-Li DVD bezels, so I decided to make them fit into my TJ07.

To start...Lian-Li needs to change their website a bit...




And now for a little on how I did this. First up, thanks to the screwed together assembly of the TJ07, it was easy to pluck out the parts that needed to be 'adjusted' to fit the bezels. Here are the 5.25 bay frame panels. My DVD drives are on the upper two slots, so I proceeded to cut the corresponding top areas so that the drives could slide further into the case giving clearance so the bezels could be mounted.




I then proceeded to do some elective surgury on the unneeded portions of the bezels themselves. I figured it would give a cleaner final appearance with no unused flanges hanging around. Before and after versions:




When inserted into the case, the bezels protrude a bit too much creating an uneven appearance. To solve this issue, a little bit of 'gap filler' is needed. I used some sort of foam that came with one of my waterblocks that has glue on one side:




I cut a bit of this material to end up with this:




And that's it! After assembly time, here's how one side looks:




And the other side.




Aww heck, I think I'll back the camera out to pimp my WC setup

The final result:






I really like the look now, gives the TJ07 a 'monolith' appearance, with no distracting DVD drives cluttering up the face of it.

But awesome guide, to be honest I have no clue why Silverstone hasn't done this yet. Clearly the Lian-Li ones are awesome, you'd think that Silverstone would make them too.

Thanks guys. A few places that have them include Performance Pc's, Silver PCs, Crazy PC, and that's all that immediately come to mind, but there's a bunch more online shops that have them.

what did you use to cut the bezels? are the bezels secured by any screws to the drive bays

Cut here...



I started by jigsawing the initial cut and then used a file to finalize the depth and make it clean looking. Ideally you dont want to make it too deep, so in the end when you put it together...it doesnt look too deep

You can see my 'toolkit' for cutting the bezels in the photo showing those...I scored a line with the razorblade and a ruler on both sides, then used the pliers to bend slightly back and forth until it fractured on the score line. Touched up with a file, then a Sharpie marker to make the cut line black. Maybe someday I'll get a Dremel, but I can see disaster looming with one of those in my hands, so I'll stick with a razor and twisting for small thin aluminum parts. Tinsnips would work too, but mine dont make as clean a cut as the fracture method so I did it this way.

The bezels have no screws on them, they are pressed forward into the main chassis by the DVD drives. With the foam material I applied pushing back, they are nicely wedged in there. You could drill a hole through the bezel 'ears' into the 5.25 bay panels and find a suitable screw with the right length should you want screws, but the wedge method works fine as-is.

Very nice indeed! Looks so professional and clean looking - better than seeing the CD/DVD drives. I'll definately keep this in mind! I was just thinking that if you wanted to use metal shims and screws instead of the foam, you might be able to use the 'scraps' or the cut off pieces to wedge in there. Although it might not be as nice as one solid piece of metal (or maybe not hold as well as the sticky foam ) but just an idea!
