    vmod for 9100 sapphire 128mo ( 250/200)?

    hi µ

i'm looking after a vmod for the sapphire design of the 8500 & 9100 , unfortunately it's not the same as the traditional 8500 ,

    here some pic's of a 9100 64mo by sapphire :

    http://www2.arnes.si/~mbabic/

if somebody is able to tell me what is the use of these components :on the upside :
    rt9173a cm54mq1
    amp3055l gf277 (2)
    amp2054n gf25w( in pq6 & pq7 )
    rt9202cs5cd6( in u26 )
    act86pcah
    on the downside :
    amp3055l gf277 ( in q13)
    25p05av 9302c (in u6)
    117m3 330223 (in reg1)
    431l (in reg 4)

your help is welcom , kind regards , tomati

It's very easy to do. I've vmodded mine with pencil!

Radon 9100 regulator 3.3V.jpg - This is for the VMEM
Radon 9100 regulator 1.6V.jpg - This is for the VCORE

Mesure the resistance of the small resestors and then pencil them. For the 3.3v the default is 200ohms, for 3.6v i've lowered it to 150. for the 1.6v it's 120ohms. I've put it to 95ohms for 2v.

You need good cooling for the mem, otherwise you'll get artefacts too quickly. Also new heatsink on the core is needed but i'm using the stock for 315Mhz core.

    Good Luck !

tks for your help xboy , but i can't see your pic's , did you have mod the sapphire design ?

edit : i've corrected my link , now it works , then if you could tell me wich reg is for what voltage ,thks .

    edit2: is that good : reg 4 = reg 3.6v

    what's the reg 3.3v ( i don't have the u8 )
    what's the reg 1.6v ( could be apm3055l gf277? )

Here is what you need to mod to increase the voltage to the core:

And this is for the memory

3.6v for the memory is good, have put heatsinks ?

    Here is my vmem mod:

This link you posted is mine "homepage". So if you are interested in details just ask.

The 3.6 V for mem I/O is too much for Samsung chips, at that voltage artifacts show up. The highest Stable voltage fo me is 3.5V (3V by default).

Other voltages should be about 2V for GPU (1.6V originaly), 2.9V for mem logic (2.6V originaly).

    You should mod these regulators:
    GPU
    MEM logic
    MEM I/O

All you have to do is to solder an resistor or variator in place marked with square at each regulator. And then adjust desired voltage. Use 10kohm variators for all regulators (they should be multiturns)!

And don't forget for good cooling of GPU and RAM chips.

If you have problems with finding regulators look at those pictures:
    Front
    Back

GPU reg is marked with red colour
MEM I/O is marked with violet
MEM logic is marked with yelow

    Enjoy!

Pencil trick is good for quick test. But if you want to make an permanent mod I'd sugest to make real solder mod. Wich is 1000 times more reliable. But for first test you can try pencil mod.

    hi xboy & tribesman ,

i'll try for sure and give you my feed back !

ps : thanks for your pics tribesman , that's the only thing that i've found about the 9100 sapphire design .

one more info : where i can chek the volt ? , for the ohm it's just on the little resistance that's right ! ( one pin of my multimeter on the gnd like my case box and the other pin on the reg where you have put the color , same for the resistance , i'm right ? )

it'll seem that the value ( volt & ohm ) are different because my mem it's only a 5ns by "psc or pcs" , but i'll make pencil test little by little !

i 've realy appreciated your help , thanks men , tomati .

ps : yes , i've already put heatsink on my mem .

well , i'm a little bit confused because
1°) i 've not succeed to increase the vcore , still at 1.61v (they are no resistor there ?)
    2°)the mem logic didn't help (2.41v =original) i've tried to
2.9v but was to much , and 2.65v didn't help more!
    3°)the mem i/o is 2.96v original , and i can't increase above 3.25v but a lot of artifact ( withe & black point )

then i turn 280/250 in game ,that's what i was able to do before the vmod , and after the mod , it' seem that i'm on the limit of my mem ( not so bad for 5ns ), i've tried 261 for mem with the mem logic at 2.65v & the mem i/o at 3.25v and no way!

i've tried with the pencil trick .

therefor thanks for your help , now i've learn , tomati.

For Vcore mod I marked that spot withou resistor because it is parallel to "original" resistor, and the soldering mod is much easier to do if there is empty place for resistor. But you can pencil this place too, although te effect with pencil mod on Vcore 'll be minimal because the ohmage of original resistor is very low and it is very hard to lower that resistance with yust pencil mod (you'll have to use very soft pencil BB)

If Vmem 2.9V is too much then you'll have to cool memory modules... I've been running them as high as 3.3V.

Vio is also very sensitive to high temperatures so some more cooling 'll solve the problem.

    hi ,

just for your information xboy , your mem timing on nf2 will be beter with 11 in place of 4 like 2.5/3/2/11

for my information what is the mem brand of your sapphire 9100
    ( mine is 5ns by psc ?)

tribesman , have i well understand that i can pencil the resistor up yours reference colored ?

i'll try again the vmod for mine sapphire , i stay in contact , kind regards , tomati

    Axle Radeon 8500LE

I have Axle Radeon 8500, and it has different design from original 8500. I've noticed that it has same variation of amp3055, p3055 chips but they are two on this card. May i trie vmod of one of them by soldier one pin of the 33kohm pot on the marked pin on the pictures above and the other to ground. Also it has 4ns Hynix chips.
I'll try to post pics of it.

    Thumbs up THANKS! :):)

Fellas thanks so much for posting your mod on here. Ive looked and looked for this. tomati posted on another forum for me to see that this forum had the answer to my question. I did a small review write up on my page if you all want a look see.
I hope I gave enough credit to your work as I just confirmed only that this mod does work for this specific card plus it helps ppl have another source to look at. Thanks again so much for all the help.

Have you noticed that the voltage rugulator for the memory is getting very hot ?! I've sticked small heatsink from diskette to cool it.

    hi ,

nice to see that you succeed jjman , good job for your site .

i had some trouble with the fan of the grafic card , i've changed the heatsink now , but not yet make the mod , the pencil trick is no enough for my gpu vcore , maybe trying to solder??? not sure ! (the mem is already at is limit , more voltage don't seem to help it)

    kind regards , tomati

pencil BETWEEN the two spots to increase the vcore. I got 1.99v and running fine at 320Mhz, tommorow i'm going to put better cooling and try more Mhz

    hi xboy ,

i've tried between the two spots , i've tried on the resistor above , with pencil 2b to 7b but no way i'll tried again before soldering .

try with very thin pencil. It's not very easy to lower this resistance, so apply some presure!
