DOA = RMA#1 older SKU, then 2nd kit dies = RMA#2 older SKU, then this kit is the result with new SKU model and Elpida MGH-E Hyper = 3rd time lucky

Funny though now the new SKU in Australia only costs AUD$375 (US$330)!

no probs yet - smooth sailing so far but remember my 980x is b1 step 2 ES not retail cpu (same b1 step 2)

RTL tuning haven't done much of - i just go with whatever is stable unless you want to loosen RTL for higher bclk/mem clocks at expense of clock for clock performance. I rma'd my kingston via Kingston Australia disty even though I bought mine from USA

My 2nd fastest PB for 32M - yeah H20 cooled only

The resulting 32M Pi time ended up my 2nd fastest PB time just behind my W3520 + DFI UT X58-T3EH8 @4794Mhz H20 time of 7min 24.422s

4769Mhz with DDR3-2167Mhz 7-7-7-21 at 1.8v for 7min 24.937s. Very close to the limits of the voltages used and/or close to my max H20 cooled i7 980X Super Pi 32M stability or could be memory limit considering this KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX kit did DDR3-2160mhz 7-7-7-21 at 1.78v for 32M with same i7 980X.



Finally new PB for 7-7-7-21 validation at @DDR3-2235Mhz 7-7-7-21 at 1.8v

Next step was to drop the Uncore multiplier one more step from 23x to 22x. You'd think this would by default allow higher memory clocks, but it didn't. The reason being on Asus P6T6 WS Revolution, Uncore frequency is tied to Round Trip Latency (RTL) A/B/C channels and auto adjusts to tighter RTL values as you lower the Uncore multiplier. For further reading on this check out the info about optimal Uncore to DRAM memory ratios for Core i7 980X.

So next step is to manually loosen RTL A/B/C channel values with Uncore multiplier dropped from 23x to 22x which allowed windows to boot in and pass single Super Pi 32M run @DDR3-2184Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at same 1.45v CPU VTT and 1.66v VDIMM ! And ended up max screenshot captured clocks at DDR3-2305Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at same voltages.

• 23x 182bclk = 4186Mhz cpu frequency
• 22x 182bclk = 4014Mhz Uncore frequency (cpuz reports it as NB frequency)
• 18x 182bclk = 3276Mhz QPI frequency
• 12x 182bclk = DDR3-2184Mhz memory frequency
