    haha i bought this kingston kit for AUD$550 (US$495) off Andre on the forums = very first newegg.com batch that came out

    DOA = RMA#1 older SKU, then 2nd kit dies = RMA#2 older SKU, then this kit is the result with new SKU model and Elpida MGH-E Hyper = 3rd time lucky

    Funny though now the new SKU in Australia only costs AUD$375 (US$330)!

    Ohh Wow, that is a lot for a kit!! Hope they paid some of that shipping for you on those RMA's, did you have to send them into the US for RMA?

    Wonder if that new SKU you mention is better, or as good as what you have now?

    no probs yet - smooth sailing so far but remember my 980x is b1 step 2 ES not retail cpu (same b1 step 2)

    Yeah expensive at the time, my current sticks ARE the new SKU = KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX

    Ahh ok, I thought maybe you got sent something special for all your hassles with multiple RMA's.

    Thanks for the link! I always enjoy reading your guides, tips, and findings on such things!

    I was wondering do you think you could write a guide or something for tuning RTL's?

    RTL tuning haven't done much of - i just go with whatever is stable unless you want to loosen RTL for higher bclk/mem clocks at expense of clock for clock performance. I rma'd my kingston via Kingston Australia disty even though I bought mine from USA

    Ok, just thought maybe you had some method of fine tuning or something like that.

    Nice to see you didn't have to ship to the US all those times!

    Nice seems 3951xxxx are pretty good for air/water at least

    My 2nd fastest PB for 32M - yeah H20 cooled only

    The resulting 32M Pi time ended up my 2nd fastest PB time just behind my W3520 + DFI UT X58-T3EH8 @4794Mhz H20 time of 7min 24.422s

    4769Mhz with DDR3-2167Mhz 7-7-7-21 at 1.8v for 7min 24.937s. Very close to the limits of the voltages used and/or close to my max H20 cooled i7 980X Super Pi 32M stability or could be memory limit considering this KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX kit did DDR3-2160mhz 7-7-7-21 at 1.78v for 32M with same i7 980X.

    Finally new PB for 7-7-7-21 validation at @DDR3-2235Mhz 7-7-7-21 at 1.8v

    How about DDR3-2305Mhz 8-8-8-24 at 1.66v air cooled memory

    6GB Kingston 2000CAS8 KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX
    @DDR3-2184Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.66v

    Next step was to drop the Uncore multiplier one more step from 23x to 22x. You'd think this would by default allow higher memory clocks, but it didn't. The reason being on Asus P6T6 WS Revolution, Uncore frequency is tied to Round Trip Latency (RTL) A/B/C channels and auto adjusts to tighter RTL values as you lower the Uncore multiplier. For further reading on this check out the info about optimal Uncore to DRAM memory ratios for Core i7 980X.

    So next step is to manually loosen RTL A/B/C channel values with Uncore multiplier dropped from 23x to 22x which allowed windows to boot in and pass single Super Pi 32M run @DDR3-2184Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at same 1.45v CPU VTT and 1.66v VDIMM ! And ended up max screenshot captured clocks at DDR3-2305Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at same voltages.

    • 23x 182bclk = 4186Mhz cpu frequency
    • 22x 182bclk = 4014Mhz Uncore frequency (cpuz reports it as NB frequency)
    • 18x 182bclk = 3276Mhz QPI frequency
    • 12x 182bclk = DDR3-2184Mhz memory frequency

    6GB Kingston 2000CAS8 KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX
    @DDR3-2305Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.66v

    • 23x 192bclk = 4418Mhz cpu frequency
    • 22x 192bclk = 4226Mhz Uncore frequency (cpuz reports it as NB frequency)
    • 18x 192bclk = 3457Mhz QPI frequency
    • 12x 192bclk = DDR3-2305Mhz memory frequency

    • Intel Core i7 980X 3951A763 B1 Step 2 ES

    12GB Super Talent 2200C8 @6-6-6-20 1t

    Quick runs seeing as 2 modules out of 6 can do 900mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.7v memtest86+ v4.10 and the other 4 modules only do 894mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.7v memtest86+ v4.10, then for just single 32M Pi test, 6x2GB Super Talent 2200C8 falling in around:

    • 879Mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.7v with CPU VTT 1.4125v
    • 885mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.7v with CPU VTT 1.425v
    • 889mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.72v with CPU VTT 1.4375v
    • 894mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.72v with CPU VTT 1.44375v

    Bootable at 879Mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.66v with CPU VTT 1.3875v

    879Mhz 6-6-6-20 1T at 1.7v with CPU VTT 1.4125v

    yeah 12GB CAS6 is nice

    back to 3x2GB for much higher head room though. Some Super Talent 2200C8 dual channel memory mixed for 3x2GB at high DDR3 memory frequency for triple channel on Asus P6T6 WS Revolution @DDR3-2462.8Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.74v with just 1.50v CPU VTT with water cooled i7 980X !

    @DDR3-2000Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.64v

    First safe voltage for 8-8-8-24 1T clocks, how about 8x32M Pi @DDR3-2000Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.64v and 1.35v CPU VTT

    @DDR3-2206Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.68v

    Now still under 1.4v CPU VTT, 8x32M Pi @DDR3-2206Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.68v and 1.39375v CPU VTT

    8x32M PI complete

    Now max screenshot and cpuz validations @DDR3-2436Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T and @DDR3-2462Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T both at 1.74v vdimm with 1.50v CPU VTT

    @DDR3-2436Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.74v

    @DDR3-2462Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T both at 1.74v
