Because of that Linpack often passes OK where Prime/OCCT (and eventually MemTest) fail due to RAM/NB instability.
This is why I've only been using IBT on low priority to test my CPU, then I use Prime/Memtest to verify NB/Memory stability.

I was talking to Agent earlier today, and he managed to HACK LinPack to work for AMD. This is still being tested, but I did a run for him and it seems to work. I'm sure he will release an update when he feels it complete, so please to dont ask me for it, THANKS!

Looks good, I wasn't even aware of the problem since most of the users so far have intel based systems. -.-"

I think I'm going back to running Prime Blend for 6-12 hours as opposed to IBT. If I'm gonna have to go back and retest my NB/memory because IBT doesn't stress them as much then I figure I might as well just stick with Prime.

There still isn't a single app/game (because I don't fold) that will stress my system as much as Prime Blend so if I can get everything done in one shot AND use an application that's more widely accepted I will.

I don't mean to put down anyone still using IBT, but if I can get away with slightly lower voltages and lower temps while still remaining stable enough to do what I need to do then I'll take that road.

Well, its objective is taking you pretty much to absolute CPU stability.

Is it possible to have the program save a log file? Even if the temp_output.txt wasn't immediately deleted that would be nice... Would help a lot if your system crashed in the middle of the night when you were asleep or something...

Would also help in determining cause of error:
Ex: System suddenly dies while all previous iterations passed vs. System passes 10 tests gets a bunch of errors and then crashes.

Hey I'm sure someone has asked this before but why should I stress with 3Gb of ram because I can [64bit] when others are stressing with a max of 1.5Gb [32bit]? I mean obviously I'm going to have way more issues due to the larger packet.

    Hi AoG

used your helpful programm to OC my aged E 6600
without any problems ..got stability with 100 runs

    2 days ago I installed the brandnew Q9550 E0

    successful 6 hours Prime 95 /small/large/blend/custom @1,1V@3GHz
successful 4 hours Everest stability test

    now:

failure in IBT in minutes : Temps are extremely low

    5 minutes IBT : 48-48-48-48 on air (E6600 @ 3 GHz was 60-61)
tried upping Vcore , NB V to no avail

    any ideas ?

    best

Armes geknechtetes Volk! Verzage nicht in deiner Noth. H.H.1830

    Hi,

the first thing you should to is returning to the default CPU voltage if you don't get stable.

However a quadcore puts more stress on the northbridge and it is impossible to tell what your issue is unless we get more infos on your hardware and settings.

    My Q9300 C1/M1 runs at 1.325V at 3.45 GHz on a P45 chipset (1.28V, ASUS P5Q3). Just as a rough guideline.

There's a bit more to OCing a quad.
1st check the how to guides. There're several around the forums.
Then, you haven't mentioned or Vdimm, Vtt (or as another mentioned -- SB).
There's also fine memory timing and GTL ref.
It all depends on what your MB gives you control over.
You also didn't mentioned whether it was a failure in linpak, a windows lock, or a spontaneous reboot.
For now (as a quick test) -- I'd give Vtt a bump.

AND, (side note) I hope that you're running a few cycles of memtest #5 before booting windows. It'll minimize the risk of having to reinstall or restore from backup when you corrupt the OS...
