Has anyone gotten their Rampage IV Extreme work with Windows 8 Consumer Preview? There seem to be some issues regarding the Intel Rapid Storage Enterprise controller resulting in a "DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION" BSOD upon launching the Windows 8 Consumer Preview installation, I tried installing on another system and just bring the disk over to my LGA2011 system but then I get the very same BSOD upon booting.

Normally I run RAID mode as I've got three Intel X25-M 80GB SSD's in RAID0 as OS solution, and two Western Digital RE4 2TB disks in RAID1 for important data and this simply wont work with the Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Then I heard someone said going AHCI was fixing the issues so I just disabled my RAID systems and changed to AHCI in the EFI BIOS but I'm still faced with the "DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION" BSOD upon launching the Windows 8 Consumer Preview installation.

Might give IDE mode a go, but I don't feel like going all the way towards IDE mode slowing down my SSD's.

Surely there must be something we can do to bypass this?

I had no problem running a pair of Corsair Force GT 240GB drives in r0 on Windows 8, however I did not install IRST and instead used the default windows driver.

    Lol....

How the heck do I boot safe mode on this board? F8 takes me to boot device, tried almost all the top function keys.

Edit: got it, F7, then F8 for future reference.

Hi guys, I got my board yesterday along with 3820. I have not atempted oc yet as I'm running into a win7 delimma: it says that a required driver is not found. I put some raid drivers on a usb stick but keeps crasjing the system and it wont boot. What are those specific drivers & how do I properly install on a raid setup? Anybody run into this similar issue please share with me, thanks.

you may have to use the 32 bit drivers and not the 64bit drivers. something to do with drivers not being signed or something.

I had the same issue while installing win7 64bit on raid 0, it was hanging each time on reboot until I plugged the Ethernet cable (I found the solution thanks to Google).
You can try that, I had a low confidence in this solution but it worked for me and someone else.

    Good luck.

+1. The 32-bit raid driver works for me.

Here's some BIOSes for you guys! DooRules requested the mod's from me, and I accidentally download the old one and modified it before I noticed the newer version.

So anyway here is old and new with modified Intel RAID ROM's, tested and fully working - enjoy!

Hey guys, i'm here to share i problem that i am having with my rampage iv extreme and 3930k C2. Here is the deal, when i try to do any overclock, like 4.5ghz or something, i set all the necessary things in the bios, the system boots up, everything seems to be ok in the cpu-z, but when i try to do any benchamrk like 3dmark vantage or 3dmark 11 or cinebench 11.5, the clock go down to 2.2ghz-2.6ghz, i don't know why this is happenning, i think is because i'm using a h40 from corsair, while i waiting my custom water cooler, and when the cpu reaches the hot temperatures like 90 degrees celsius, it automatically goes down. I red many guides and i think is not i problem of settings in the bios, tried to change the original version that was 0604 to the 1101, but the problem doesn't go away. So i'm here to see if anyone can say what is, or had something like that...

Thanks for everything and sorry for the english, i'm brazilian.

Hey Neto, your CPU is thruttling down. I'm not at my mashine at the moment but I came something like yours & found a sub menu that locks the oc. Hopelessly this helps.

Either your CPU temps are too high or your VRM temps are too high and the board is throttling down the chip. Make sure you are actively cooling the VRM area with a fan if you are setting Load Line Calibration higher than Medium. Your chip will throttle at 93C so that could be an issue as well.

I think you are correct, the h40 is not working here, i will set everything to stock, and wait for the real wc, doing this, i think i will not force the cpu!

    Thanks.

    To Neto:

I found the sub menu. On the first page go to CPU Performance Settings & there you want to set the desired Ratio & then Disable Speedstep. That worked for me & hope it works for you.

I did solve the raid driver crashing the machine by downloading the latest ones from Asus's support site.

Can someone help me reach 5GHZ? I'm good for 45min with Prime 95 @ 4875 @ 1.48V but anything above that & it would crach hard. What settings should I be looking for? Am I missing something somewhere?

    Cheers peeps

There's a copy of Rampage IV Extreme UEFI Guide for Overclocking here on XS.
