I have tried all day yesterday and today and still can't get this damn thing to be stable not even at 4.2Ghz with my D0 chip, I tried different BIOS and many OC templates that I gathered from the EVGA forum and here, even tried some of those settings from Classified, played with vtt, ICH, IOH, vcore, down clock the ram, QPI, and variety of combination but still no go and keep getting BSOD. This damn turd simply isn't stable enough to run LinX for more than 5min. While the P6T Deluxe V2 has the very annoying mutliplier dropping issue but it is rock solid at 4.51Ghz so I'm going to send this thing back to newegg and try different board, maybe the Classfied or the R2E....this sucks.
    Core i7 920 D0 3844A717 4.40Ghz HT on @1.36v (LinX/Prime/3D stable), Corsair 850W, 12GB OCZ Platinum 1600, P6T Deluxe V2, EVGA GTX 285 SS, OCZ Vortex SSD 30GB x3 RAID0, HAF 932.

hey ben805 have you tested different bioses ? i've found that some of them are really terrible with my current benching set up.. the best and most stable ones that i have used thus far are E758SZ21, E758SZ1N and E758SZ2E.

Well, not every x58 SLI from EVGA is going to be a winner. I think overall most of them are, but in the tech industry inevitably there are going to be a few out of every lot manufactured that just aren't killer boards. I wouldn't write off the EVGA x58 non-classified yet. People are largely getting incredible experiences overclocking with their boards. Maybe you should exchange it for another of the same board. Up to you though. There are several other champion x58 boards you can try, but most of us are having a great time with ours. I've never had a board with this many features that overclocks this will, this easily, and runs this stable, for the price I paid for it. I've paid more and got less a time or two, but this board has just been a dream come true ... well, if you're a complete geek like I am.

How can you guys make it? I feel damn sad when I see that I need 1.45V and way hot temperatures to bench 3d06 at 4.4GHz...

And I can't get 4.2GHz stable with less than 1.4V

luck of the draw man. this was a cpu ordered online from NCIX canada, the only guarantee was its stepping.

One thing I can tell you from my brief experience so far with the D0 is that it reacts better with lower volts. Maybe there is another factor in your overclocks that you're overlooking?

Even with the D0 it's still luck of the draw. Maybe overall yields provide a higher percentage of killer chips, but just like the C0's there are going to be a few that just aren't the best. Sounds like you got a good chip, but not killer. 4.2 on air with any quad core is really nothing to be ashamed of. What has happened to us these days?

we're a bit spoiled TBH. I was extremely luck with my C0 and this D0, but my luck hasn't been so well with other components like one of these limp-assed GTX285's.

You are pushing your OCZ gold too hard with RAS of 19 and running 1600+. Loosen those timings a bit and you will have better luck at stability. And trust me memory benchmarks are overrated! Less than 1% gain between 8 8 8 19 and 8 9 9 24.

Is 1.45 at load or idle? Also, remember that most boards don't always push exactly the volts that they claim they are pushing. evga x58 is known for this. Read 3oh6's review hardware canucks. So, its possible that you are limited by your cooling.

I'm running memories with 8-8-8-24 and when i set it to 9-9-9-27 there's no improve on stability, unfortunately

    Which review is that?

I'm probably limited by the cooling as you said, but I see D0's that doesn't need that much voltage (as the one above). So, if I needed less voltage, temperature would be less concerning...

I set 1.48V at idle (with vdroop) and get something around 1.45V during 3dmark's...

I've been kind of quiet on my end with my regular ol' x58 tri SLI. I turned HT back on, and cranked up some voltage just for fun. When I was testing before I had stability issues galore with HT enabled, but I finally realized that all my testing was being done with vdroop being allowed, rather than prevented!

Now I'm getting better results. I'll post some numbers if I have time.

I'm still waiting on that new 800D Corsair Obsidian full tower case. Once I get that, I'm making a lot of changes, and I'm hoping to get a D0 in soon for testing as well.

Also going to enter the watercooling arena shortly after receiving the Corsair case, if they ever release the bloody thing. Much of their hype is starting to wear off, and some of us would jump on a killer ATCS 840 deal if it came up before Corsair releases their new flagship case.

I just got mine, I hope to have time to get it up and running tomorrow night... I'll post my OC results when they are ready, but that won't be for a couple of weeks. I just want to get it up and running before I get my watercooling shwag installed.

I was loving my one until I attempted to clock my d0 to 4.4ghz. After failing when testing for stability the board wouldn't even run at stock without falling over.

On testing I believe one of the RAM slots was faulty (tested two sticks of RAM in slot 1, fails memtest and errors continously, test those sticks of RAM in slot 3 and pass for 200%). I also tested my mates Crucuial Ballastix in there and the machine wouldn't even boot with one stick in slot 1, but was stable at 4ghz when connected to slot 3...

I RMA'ed the board back to EVGA and they have sent it back as FNF....

Will be retesting with some Dominator but can't see how they didn't find a fault with it...

was the latest which was SZ2F I believe.

Volts when testing 4.4ghz was the following:

Vcore - 1.3 (roughly - haven't gone over 1.32 at all as was working up)
    QPI - 1.8
    VTT - 1.35
    IOH - 1.3
    DIMM - 1.65

Pretty sure they are accurate, definately nothing extreme there anyway - was just trying low volts and working away from them..

Well EVGA didn't believe there was a fault and not getting much help so far on my forum post:

    http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=...ey=&#100745014

Any insight from you guys appreciated, i can't see this being anything but a board fault. Requested the full test report from them and waiting to hear back.

Just for "fun" try your RAM testing with everything at stock and no OC. Make sure the RAM is exactly set at spec.

My memtesting was done at full default settings, everything at auto, ram was only running at 1066mhz with 1.65v in bios

will try again as getting some dominator over the weekend so can fully test on Monday

Hmm ... Let us know how that goes. EVGA is usually quite reliable on such matters. I bet if you start throwing errors in memtest and snap some photos of the screen for them, it might help. Disregard if you already did that! It's just an idea.

Will be retesting with some Dominator but can't see how they didn't find a fault with it...

did you pop the battery out while pushing the CMOS reset button for at least 15 seconds?..make sure you unplug the power supply and push on the start button after the power LED light extinguishes to unload any caps on the board before proceeding with the CMOS clearing procedure

sometimes bios code can get corrupted while it's in memory...best way, when you face that situation, is to do that clearing method and then re-enter the bios to re-load default settings; save and then give it a try with whatever form of testing.

my board is an absolute dream board...i have 12 gig's installed and it would clock right up there to 4.4 ghz with comfortable voltages at 7-7-7-28, 2T...i have corsair's DDR-2000 (spec'd at 8-8-8-24) occupying all 6 slots.
