Tell something about this little fan on RIVE chipset ... Is it loud , is it needed ? What about temps, chip runs hot ? Can it be turned off ? There are a lot of concerns...

its not noisy, can be disabled in bios. if you disable it, doesnt it become like any other mb without a fan?

but well... I guess there were some reasons why they installed that fan.. Does the chip runs so hot and they recommend additional fan ?

The same situation with other brands, some of them have fan installed like Rampage, Sabertooth others not like P9X79 or GA-X79-UD7 . The question why such diversification...

originally the chipset has higher wattage with additional uplink and SAS but now no and thus less heat. But the heatpipe from VRM can pass the heat here to aid some dissipation.

@ SwIeR: If that little fan makes any noise at all, its less than my other fans so I cant hear it. If you are doing heavy over clocking on any board you will need to add cooling/fans to keep it cool, and would not be able to hear the board fan even if it did make noise. The memory profiles in the bios actually work well. Support is the best I have seen on a mobo (of any I have owned), and support is from Asus guys posting right here in your forums. Dont think I ever had that type of support with Gigabyte or MSI.

Unless you are on a budget, or have no need for all the extras, I cant see a reason not to try this board.

Great chip! How much vdimm, vccsa did you need to get your memory to pass at that speed with tight timings? Also did you use the Elpida Hyper profile, or Hynix?

Can someone qucikly answer this because i'm about to order .... Does this board work with all 1366 CPU blocks? I want to water cool a 3930K but i've read in places that some 2011 boards dont work with 1366 mounting kids. But the Rampage IV comes with some sort of plate adapter so all 1366 blocks/mounting kits should work right??

    RIVE or RIVF?

Planning to buy new toys, focus on gaming with SLI or TRI setup with 30" screen but overclocking is almost as high as gaming
