I think this is an incredibly well designed MB, just a hunch. But I ran this program:

Its only found 5 errors out of over 4700. Those are probably from the cheap USB2/3 and soundcard's I have plugged in, I'm guessing.

Has anyone else run this program on this lifer motherboard?

I'm not sure if this has been posted or not, but there is a BIOS update available that upgrades the Intel ICH firmware from 7.5 to 8.5. It has something to do with better support for SSD's.

It's based on version 19, and it doesn't look like anything is changed in the bios itself, but the Intel Raid screen looks a little different and has more support. Also, it now shows as ICH10R instead of ICH9R.

I ran this program several moments ago. I received this result:



BIOS is 18ZZZ from my recent updated BIOS pack a couple pages back.

Obviously, the results likely depend on CMOS settings and whatever expansion cards are present, and maybe even USB devices.

I have two of these boards, one is having some weird lockups and blue screens after a win 7 64 install, I think it was because of a USB wireless card, system is all stock right now..running 17 bios.....would these new bios help you think?

I cannot get that main download to work only wants to install ILIVID manager. Wont do that.

I doubt the BIOS can help with USB issues. If you could upload the contents of %systemroot%\Minidump, I can analyze your blue screens to get a hint at what's wrong.

Some new option ROMs out:

• Phoenix AHCI Option ROM 01.07.10 (12-05-2008)
• JMicron JMB363 Option ROM 1.07.25

Despite the JMB363 OROM being a lower version than the previous 1.08.01 in my update pack, it is definitely newer. I've read that 1.08.01 is only for specific boards with port multiplier implementations, which we obviously don't have. I have finished initial testing of both of these OROMs and they work fine. Just in case the newer Phoenix OROM fixed some sort of bug related to the Intel OROMs, I tried Intel SATA AHCI/RAID 8.9.1.1002, but it still threw an error in RAID mode. I will get a small pack of BIOS 16-18 up soon for you guys.

Plan on doing a OS reinstall ASAP. I run Windows XP Pro. Been about 2/3 years since the last one (well Abit was STILL a company then if that tells you anything). Honestly the OLD original drivers Ive been using since, Ive never had issues with. But I see that there have been SEVERAL updates.

My question is, I dont use RAID or the UGURU to overclock with (I overclock straight through BIOS) So is there a reason I need these drivers?

Which Drivers do I need? I'll be honest last time the OS was installed on this board (right after I FIRST built it), I dropped my system off at a friends house on the way to work, he installed the OS and ALL drivers for the board, and I just picked it up after work.

For Windows XP, you will need:

• Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver (if using AHCI operation mode for the SATA controller, you will need to create a floppy with this driver on it and press "F6" when prompted by Windows Setup and follow the instructions; if you are using IDE emulation mode, you don't need this)
• Chipset driver
• Realtek 8110SC Gigabit Ethernet Controller Driver
• Realtek HD Audio Driver
• JMB363 Storage Controller driver (if using IDE or eSATA)
• abit µGuru utility (for this one, you can simply install the device driver manually through Device Manager if you do not wish to install the µGuru utility)

Any other drivers will need to be obtained from the manufacturer (video card, any other add-in cards, etc).

AHCI stands for Advanced Host Controller Interface and is a setting in "Integrated Peripherals -> OnChip SATA Device -> SATA Mode" in the CMOS setup, if I recall correctly. It enables proper SATA speeds of up to 300mbit, NCQ (Native Command Queuing), and hot-plugging of devices. I advise running in AHCI mode for best performance, and it's almost a requirement if you're running an SSD.

Your two optical drives don't matter as they are on the JMicron IDE controller.

To use AHCI with Windows XP, you can either install it in IDE emulation mode and follow this guide after XP is installed, or use a floppy drive + follow the F6 prompt during the first text-mode loading portion of Windows Setup.

Yes, it should support a Q8400 with no issue. Theoretically the best chip it can support is the Q9650. The IP35 Pro can theoretically support any Core 2 desktop chip as the beta BIOS 18 added support for E0 stepping processors.

Hi all!

I recently had the opportunity to upgrade a machine running Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit. It is running the Abit IP35-Pro motherboard. I don't have a lot of experience with Win7 yet, so I'm not sure what will be working fine out of the box, vs what I really should install an updated driver for, especially since some of this stuff may not even have drivers for Win7 64-bit.

I was hoping someone could help me out.

• Device Manager shows no conflicts (except uGuru), so that is good. Can I update the uGuru driver in Device Manager and just use the Vista driver?

• I haven't installed any of the RAID, SATA, ACHI, or Matrix crap from Intel or JMicron. The system has 4 SATA hard drives but they are running in IDE mode, no RAID. Do I need any of this stuff?

How about:

• Chipset driver
• Audio driver
• Ethernet driver

Do I need to update these? Does it get me any benefit over what Windows 7 is already using? If so, how do I find the right version? There are links all over the place, and I'm not sure what is specifically for Win7 64-bit.

I had no problems with my IP35 Pro going from XP 32-bit to 7 64-bit, Windows automatically detected everything and that was me running the stock v16 BIOS.

The most up-to-date drivers are shown in Ligushka's post here. I can confirm the uGuru driver works just fine:

It's up to you if you use them or the ones Windows installs but I work on the theory they get updated for a reason, especially where hard drives and SSD's are concerned.

Whilst I'm here I'd just like to give HUGE thanks to Ligushka, using your modded v16 BIOS has allowed me to run my SSD in AHCI mode which would've been otherwise impossible.

You need the latest Jmicron drivers to use esata. If you have an SSD and want maximum performance you will want to use Ligushka's bios and the Intel RST drivers to run ACHI properly.
