Asus unveils single greatest mini-itx board ever

"ASUS announced its first Republic of Gamers (ROG) motherboard in the mini-ITX form-factor, the Maximus VI Impact, which could go on to become choice number one for SFF gaming PC builders. Arguably the most feature-rich mini-ITX motherboard ever made, the Maximus VI Impact is a socket LGA1150 motherboard based on Intel Z87 Express chipset, which supports 4th generation Core "Haswell" processors"

Instant winner. A single GPU is all you need to run games at TV resolution, and this form factor makes it much more convenient in the living room.

    Must resist urge to buy.

I am really interested in replacing my current beast machine with something smaller but equally powerful. Intel need to hurry up and release some 6 core mid range CPUs around the 4770 price range. Then id be sure to buy one along with this and a GTX 670 Mini

Now CaseLabs just needs to make a cute, but manly, mini-ITX case for me.

Yeah what I find lacking in the ITX arena is the decently small cases.

Things like a Prodigy aren't really an ITX case if it can physically fit mATX (with modding ofc).

    Give me something tiny!

No pics yet. Need get it from nearby factory that works with aluminium, there is still few parts to be cut but i think within month i will have first version ready for testing, when it is ready for testing i will make thread in case forums with pics of testing version of it.

First version willl be, 135mm thick (35mm just for panel since i want be 100% shure it fits in, i will prob. make it slimmer at end, something like 20-25mm for panel part), just 624mm wide and 394mm tall.

Im quite unshure how to make corners smooth, maybe need weld the corners.
    ------------

But, back to topic lets not make this news topic about my AIO case

Not quite shure if i wait for that Asus Maximus VI Impact and buy 4770k or just use Asus P8Z77-I DELUXE and 3770k.

I really wish they'd start making boards like this compatible with ECC/registered memory. The price for a 16GB stick of ECC is barely much more than 2x8GB, and if they're going to give me a board that's capable of carrying 32GB of RAM then let me use it!

    RAM drives for all!!

Does anybody know if the integrated audio supports EAX3, 4 and 5? For older games (like COD2), it's a must have. I need something like ALchemy from Creative, so I'm having a hard time upgrading my soundcard (X-Fi). In a board like this, there is no way to upgrade the integrated sound card.
    Main: Windows 10 Core i7 5820K @ 4500Mhz, Corsair H100i, 32GB DDR4-2800, eVGA GTX980 Ti, Kingston SSDNow 240GB, Crucial C300 64GB Cache + WD 1.5TB Green, Asus X99-A/USB3.1
    ESXi Server 6.5 Xeon E5 2670, 64GB DDR3-1600, 1TB, Intel DX79SR, 4xIntel 1Gbps

Probably, all the ASUS sound stuff is some fancy stuff to gussy up a realtek product with the creative software slapped over it.

The daughter board ain't useful at all. For what I've been reading comparing the other Asus that had such board, the P8Z77-I Deluxe, the difference between it and the Asrock Z77-E ITX are minimum. Also, this new ROG version not only comes with such daughter board, but also with YET ANOTHER daughter board for... a DAC? It makes absolutely no sense at all, and I have no idea why people are digging this board so much. It offers nothing interesting.

For starters, why would you want the best overclocking Z87 board... when you are going to put it into a mITX enclosure? The S3, prodigy and the like are only mITX because they say so, because volume wise they are MUCH bigger.
