no desktop boards support core independent cool and quiet fully since they can only deliver 1 voltage but the bios and cool and quiet let the cpu think that it can work so it will show a changed multi and VID but the voltage dose not change. this was a huge problem with the thulbans on am3.

I am not sure updating to the latest BIOS for the C4F is a good idea. The changelog says:
"For testing AM3+ CPU Function only, do no update this BIOS while using AM3 or previous type CPUs!"

Go to the BIOS download page for the C4H and click on the BIOS update history/changelog.

So far all benching including CB11 64bit is doing good on the 1100t. My temps are not as cold as they were in deep winter (right now Idel is 26*C). Just slowly increasing as I go, then will throw NB in the mix. I running 4.2ghz 1.45v in bios with 8GB of RAM 1600mhz CAS8 OZC BE sticks for now.

Edit: same settings are running Prime95 and load temps are around 45*C.
Going to let it run for an hour and move on.

Just found this post on ASUS' forums which relate to this new BIOS...
Someone said "do not update this BIOS..."

    Update

Ok, I know, nothing super exciting yet, but this is better than the previous bios with this cooling.

One would think that but the board already does that anyways.
I have no idea what the cpu cpb mode does.

I don't know about independant core voltages.
But I do know it will idle down to the lowest vid voltage when the core fid's are within the limits and etc.

Lowest fid on the ch4f by default is 4x.
At 200mhz fsb the lowest pstate speed is 800mhz.
And your highest is either the value of your cpu multiplier that you set in the bios or the turbo multiplier.
The speeds themselves are independent of each other.
Any one of them for example can hit turbo mode, and all of them can doit at once.

The only thing that the am3 can't do is cpu-nb voltages and speeds for each core independently, probably because they share the same mem controller setup.
And I have no idea if the am3+ does that anyway.
There isn't really anything to add for power management.
Unless it's bios interface wise (fid/vid control for all multi's...).

Chipset wise I've seen at least one 890fx paired with an am3+ socket already.
And then supposed new board rev's from msi I think it was.
I'm not to hopeful because of the cpu socket thing, but otherwise I don't know why not.
Regardless this bios didn't add cpu support, they usually don't add cpu support anyways until around the time the cpu is released I think.

I did notice the mem bandwith sucks at a cpu 100% llc setting .
Not sure if the previous did that, but the one before that didn't...(before 50% was an option)
It's alot slower, at least 3-5k on copy bandwith in aida64.

At a 50% setting it's fine though as far as I could tell.
    I wonder if cpu-vdda would fix that :\ ?

I don't understand Asus's logic they have posted a beta BIOS for a chip that isn't released for another 3months and said don't download it it is a test BIOS, then why put it on there in the first place and are they going to do 2 separate BIOS's every time. People are waiting for a BIOS update so they waste time and resources for a chip that no one has.

    The exact change log:
Crosshair IV Formula 3012 Test BIOS
For testing AM3+ CPU Function only, do no update this BIOS while using AM3 or previous type CPUs!
    Hmm...
But why isn't there a name among the strings in the amibcp.
Maybe it only grabs that cpu's name from it's msr (like it should do for all cpu's anyways...), so it don't need a name string in the bios.
Or maybe it works as unknown or something I don't know.

I think maybe that the new sockets we saw are only for the cheap board's with mainly the 890gx chipset.
Maybe a ht bridge for the shaders on the cpu.
The reason I think so is because the new sockets while having a nice color, look cheap and flimsy like it's from a diff company maybe...
At least the ones I saw, I'm in no way saying they are bad, but the arm's and the size of the socket makes me wonder if it wasn't made by a diff company.

    I'm kinda curious now though.
I still wonder if we do need a socket or not.
I wonder..., if we will get 12cores with this next gen...

Also, I figure since the 1090t is at $200 right now on newegg.
There will be another $280-300 cpu at least...
    Probably an 8 core though.
Would be sweet if there was an 8 core for $200 and a 12 core for $300...

The new cpu must have a min value for tRC 12t..., or it's labeled as such in it's datasheet...
Which explains the new behavior of the bios.
Probably adds official 1600mhz ram support or something...
    Making wild guesses.

    1307 ???
    I know of the 1304 but where's the 1307 ?

As far as the 3012 goes I'm using it right now on my 1090t...

    Edit:
Just saw the slide thingys, 8 cores :\.
Darn, ohwell makes sence from revenue aspect.

Enhanced turbo core, maybe this is what that cpu cpb thing is.

Question to those who already updated: When you go to EZFlash tool, does it allow to flash back the previous version (1304)?

Let me know what you think of it. I have been running WCG 100% over night and she hasn't had any issues yet. I will try some higher clocks maybe tonight, I have a long day ahead of me..

    ^^ This....

Hey Charged, have you noticed any improvement with 3012,
4.2 is a pretty good clock at those voltges, were you always able to do that?

Sorry for jumping the gun on mentioning the new bios. Glad it didn't do any damage to your system!
I'm with tonyb on this one though..... Why would Asus even release a beta for a chip that hasn't been released.

After hearing the new info I wimped out and haven't flashed it yet.
I probably will tonight though, Thanks for being the guinea pig....

    Hey Dave, how ya been?
I haven't had an issue yet. I have been bored lately and needed something new to play with. The settings I have now were not possible for running Prim95 or CB11 at these temps. It is between .1 and .05v better on both IMC and CPU for my chip. I needed at least 20-30*c cooler load temps for this before.

I downloaded 1304, where is at web this beta 3xxx? Link pls. Thx

at forums is write "The BIOS has a new option in the Advanced/CPU Configuration/CPB Mode (Auto/disabled)
CPB mode appears to be a core performance boost, it throttles the multi and voltage of idle cores on X6 CPU's, it drops the cores to 800mhz and lower voltage a sort of power saving feature I suppose, that's as far as I have got so far I'm probably wrong lol, no notable difference in performance so far."

    ???
