Big thanks mate
I am not really that impressed if we forget about Physik for the moment - to force it on an ATI Card is just ridiculous.

Hexus review is SLAMMED now, hard to get through, but looks like 35% gains on average across the board, with some cases touching the 5970 .
all posting has stopped, everyone at Hexus

Going from a HD4870x2 to a HD5870 there was a noticeable drop in Kilowatts being used in my house, since my PC runs 24/7. So the drop in idle/total power consumption does mean a lot. The drop in kilowatts reflects on the amount of money I have to pay for electricity, so I would say it's something of a factor unless you have unlimited money to burn.
If you crunch/fold or whatever 24/7 then the difference in power-usage will amount to a LOT of money between a system running a 480 and a 5870. So maybe it's not a factor for you but for some it's a huge factor.

A not so remarkable 3/5 score for the 480, by hexus!
makes me think of a quote that makes sense here

hexus is hating this due to a very overpriced card, did they even give any reason why the 440pound price is expected?
Wow, Nvidia fail.
50% more transistors, huge die, 6 months late, around TWICE the power consumption as HD5870, 93 degree load temps.... it's hardly faster, even losing in Crysis. ATI can beat this with an overclocked 2GB card, and it would be foolish of them not to release a 5890 soon.
Hate to say it, but looks like Charlie was right -- and 5870 wasn't even as big a leap as people thought from the specs it would be.
I have to admit, i expected more games tested, seems a little light. It's not going to be a repeat of the Nvidia driver fiasco where only certain games can be reviewed!
wait, they are using forceware drivers that aren't out yet?
So 10% in average lead over 5870. That's pathetic for a chip with 50% more transistors, consuming approx 30% more energy and which will arrive 7~8 months latter.
nVidia failed as much as ATi did with R600. MR. WhoopAss-can-opener has a lot of homeworks to do.
What comes to me, as a customer, I think I'll buy the 2nd revision of Fermi, aka GTX480+ with higher clocks and 512 SPs. Meanwhile I hope that some decent DX11 titles will appear and I'll have a reason to upgrade my 5870.
