    Swiftech Apogee GTZ for LGA1366 / Nehalem

    Just received this waterblock for review on the Nehalem platform.
    As always, excellent craftsmanship from Swiftech. I especially like the mounting; no loose parts, no tools needed, thumbscrews, wiggle room to squeeze out the thermal paste. Beating all other aftermarket mountings by far in my opinion.

    Some pictures:

    According to Swiftech, the chromed hold-down is what will be shipped in the mounting for LGA1366, while the back plate might differ at launch.

    MSRP: $9.95 (USD) for the mounting.

    Testing has already begun, but I can't disclose any numbers as of now

    it's the same exact water block, just that the mounting is different right?

    This back-plate was made out of CNC aluminum specifically for the purpose of sending out a cooling solution to reviewers pre-launch, as our production back-plate wasn't ready yet. The Production back-plate is stamped steel & pem standoffs and expected to arrive on time for Corei7 official launch (crossing fingers..)

    ..... and to Japan. I am willing to give the Apogee a second chance, after the horrible experience with erosion in previous models. Remember the pictures I posted at OCAU?

    Thanks Gabe, This is great if us Apogee GTZ LGA775 owners can just buy the backplate for LGA 1366?

    The hole dimensions are different from LGA775.
    LGA1366 = 80mm
    LGA775 = 72mm

    looks like the best screw on solution ive seen so far
    i still dont get why everybody went away from the socket 939 clamp/lever mounting though... that was THE best mounting mechanism ever...
    it takes 2 seconds to remove a heatsink/waterblock and 2 seconds to put it back on... its robust, has high mounting pressure, its cheap...

    Do you know if they'll be making a AM2+/AM3 mouting bracket for the GTZ also?

    Wish they had a mounting method similar to the old Athlon 64 ones, they basicly just clipped on

    With a heavy heatsink, that puts all of the strain onto the socket though.

    Nice, new blocks for the the new chips are already in stock. Maybe I should jump on the upgrade bandwagon as well.

    I'm working on a full scale review on this block, including overclocking of course.

    Here are some reference temperatures at stock speed. Water temp is 20.0C when these screens were taken. I'm not sure what to believe when it comes to CoreTemp and RealTemp at this stage.

    Do you have the latest beta of coretemp? The newer versions started showing 4 cores, as it should...

    Yeah I found it randomly on a US site, pity there aren't many places that Ship to Ireland.
    It's also quite cheap though, only like $10

    the GTZ is swiftechs flag ship water block they make brackets for lga 771 also and now i7...glad i bought one now seeing it will last through another build in the future with just another bracket...other companys need to take note...but would probably be afraid they would sell less blocks if people could just take them from build to build
