Ok crap storm has for the most part blown over I had a nasty run-in with one Mr. Virtumonde(bastid of a virus) which forced me to format Windows and start from scratch......but on the bright side, after hours of re-installing idk how many patches, programs, games, etc. I got around to making a ghost image of my whole Windows partition so next time I'll have less of a headache Also, I finally found about MicroXP(stripped down, bare-bones version of Win XP) and my VM's seem to be hogging less resources finally compared to a full Windows install

Happy crawling!!

sorry if this is spamming, but : any ideas why no one replied to my thread titled server?? The server I am aiming at even though it has a shared 100 mbit pipe ( 95% burstable in theory ) is only 10 euros..

You poor thing.

"Spybot" took care of virtumonde for me. As every program have their forces, spybot seems to have a good grap on that naughty virus. When it searches, it's like it has its eyes extra open for that one.

It's always a good idea to have several programs to clean, combined with manual work in the register. But you know that, so I just repeat the obvious.

Glad you're up and running again, to keep us warm by your fire.

Well done Dave. While you're in Vegas, near Fugger you could run MJ-12 on his line. Maybe thats why the forum is a little sluggish

Just tossed MJ12 on my Sammy. I never really got the chance to run this full whack 24/7, since it always interfered with online gaming or my torrents on our old 8/1 line. Since we now have 20/1, that isn't much of an issue any more.

We should really get more people to run this again

I want to make a comeback, but it might not happen for a while The IPCOP machine I had finally died (hard drive was old, and the install got corrupted when the power went out during a lightning storm). We are running on a crappy Linksys router that has a hard time when my brother games online, so majestic would kill it. Just a couple quick questions though:
1: Does anyone know if running an athlon XP computer would add a considerable amount to our power bill? I'm getting good with turning things off when I don't need them, and unplugging things that don't need to be plugged in, but I'm still curious).
2: Has anyone tried majestic on a SSD hard drive? Hard Drives were a limiting factor when I ran it, and was wondering if anyone has given this a shot.

With any luck, I might have a machine up randomly, and maybe have a brand new fast router (thinking about trying a pfSense machine this time) up by August.

An underclocked, undervolted Athlon XP should be fine for MJ12 and uses very little power. Like Frisch told you, just don't overclock it. See how you get a negative power draw when you underclock it? It might be the very first machine in the world to generate power from nothing

Im not gonna be on MJ12/WCG for the next couple of days. All my Crucial Ballistix decided to die randomly on me today when I switched PC on.. much hours of testing and randomness followed (1 dead, 2 dead, 3 dead, then 3 working, then all dead..sigh!)

Got some G.Skill coming on Wed so should be able to fire the boxes back up then.
