Dual payment? Must be a US things, I have never heard of an EU store that uses that, it's hard enough to find a place that ships to Ireland at a reasonable price

That makes me glad I got this board. That means they are right on top of it. At least it's got flashback.

This has been asked many times but haven't seen a answer. Is it possible to have a 1x pci-e soundcard (creative, asus) in the upper slot or does only the one provided with the board fit there??

I have asked before and no-one answered that question.
But, i have figured out a solution for myself.
I have the Asus Xonar D2X.
If you use the small pci bracket (low profile) that's bundeled with the card and buy a flexible PCI-E x1 cable it should fit.
The card will hang above the motherboard, connected through the flexible PCI-E x1 cable.
Man that's gonna be like Star Trek
I'm pretty sure this will work, so we have:
    a. the best mobo around and
    b. great sound instead of FX crap card

    Here is what i did

I removed the heat sink from the nb and put an small fan there.
with the heat sink out of the way my Fatlity PCI-E fits just fine and the Nb is actually cooler.

    That's also a nice solution
But i think you run into trouble when using a waterblock on the Northbridge.

I won't have no waterblock on the northbridge so that might work for me. Clever solution. Is it possible to put like a Thermalright cooler on there instead of the normal heatsink and still have for example the sonar there? What fan did you use btw?

What kind of heatsink/fan and case are you using?

Here is one random SLI score from last weekend bench session.

Only my bad cpu is maxed in that run. Cards can do much better

SLI is working perfectly on X58 motherboards.

Some 3-way vantage runs will come soon.
You are as good as your samples are!

Guys can I ask you something.

I've been thinking but I don't know if this can be done.

If I would have 6 hard driver and 1 dvd burner eh...

Knowing this board has 6 SATA connectors will you be able to hook all things up ?

Or is the max I can do is 5 HD's and 1 sata dvd burner?

    Thanks

OK guys I need somebody who has this board to double check something for me. I was using my multimeter and testing the CPU voltage on the board when I noticed something that has really got me puzzled. While I have the BIOS set to 1.44v and everything inside the BIOS and LCD poster including all external app's reflect this I noticed with the multimeter that it sky rockets all the way up to 1.72v under load then will stay this way after?!?!

Something is totally off here and I was wondering if somebody could verify that this is really happening.....

    great review elmor, thank you.

off the record: it's nice to see you folks playing around in XP. Me too!

all this plataform nehalem is really something, everyday i get even

more surprised with the evolution of processors and chipsets.

Amazing job Intel did, and asus didn't dissapointed too.

The board has 7 sata ports. 6 connected to the ICHR10 and 1 connected to the JMicron contoller so you should be all right.

Whoa whoa whoa! Yeah I'd like to hear something on this one too. I'm getting ready to boot mine possibly Monday if I don't run into any snags. That's almost a .3v difference!
