[LL A05] Simplicity

So I finally felt that there had been enough progress to post this on here.

It all started by me building the V1000, and when the parts for it became more and more exotic the waiting time grew and grew.
The problem was that I was ready to start building, mentally.
This project is separate from Crystal Clear, and it will NOT affect it in any way.


I managed to keep my cool for a good 6 months but around now I snapped.
Since time was the only issue for not completing the V1000 right now and parts are getting more and more rare and exotic, and my old computer started dying I went and ordered some parts.
It started with a couple of sticks of Corsair Dominator 1600mhz ddr3's and a Corsair X32 SSD.
Before I knew it I had a complete i5 setup lying on the shelves, and no CPU cooler that would fit.
I did what any normal person would do, I took my LT and tested if it'd fit, and it did perfectly, this was the step in to LC yet again.

Anyway, this is my story about the (split) first time doing LC, and I try to keep it as serious as possible so I hope you'll enjoy the ride.
And as it goes with names, because I like names, this one is called Simplicity.

Some specs on the system:
- Intel i5 750
- MSI P55M-GD45
- Corsair Dominator 1600mhz
- ATi 5770 (GTX260 borrowed from Crystal Clear)
- Corsair X32 SSD
- OCZ modXstream 500w w/ white connectors, sleeved with MDPC-X white, and a touch of Grande Bleu.

LC:
- EK Supreme LT
- EK FC 5770 (EK FC GTX 280 w/ EK-FC280 GTX RAM Backplate)
- EK Multioption RES 150 Rev.2
- EK ANTI-Cyclone
- EK DDC X-Top Laing DDC V.2
- Feser Xchanger 120.2
- Laing DDC-Pump 12V DDC-1Plus (18w/620lph)
- Masterkleer tubing with Feser compression fittings.


Ideas and help, as well as anything else you'd like to say, is greatly appreciated.

Now on with the GPU, I planned on running it on air at first, but I still wanted it to be special.
The was game is on!








Did a little touching up on the GPU fan too.





This is how it turned out, I absolutly love the new color, though it doesn't seem to be that high quality when photographed.

This is the content of the first package to arrive.













I was test fitting the loop when I relised that only 6 points of mounting wasn't enough for me to route a neat loop.
So I ordered a EK-FC280 GTX waterblock with the EK-FC-280GTX RAM backplate, a single slot cover and two 45 degree adapters.
I know that I can't get Feser One from the same place that I got the rest, so I decided to go with Feser compression fittings instead of the Fatboys when (if?) I get this thing up and running and order the rest of the parts.




Chipped paint, I'm considering painting the outer shell in glossy white.

wow, im very impressed, bot in picture quality and the build itself.
From my experience, the a05 isnt easy to do a clean build in, and looking at the air cooled revisions, I cant wait to see the watercooled build finished.

Yeah the pictures are a bit tiny, but I'll try to include larger ones as well at the various milestones of this project.

The aircooled copper build, CuRREAL, is my fathers.
The other two rigs are mine.

Yeah I like compact builds, and I think this will be quite the challange.

Since I have a GPU-block incomming I thought I'd re-route the tubing.
Not very pleased since I frankly can't see much of the computer itself.

Mostly because I want the case to look as close to stock as possible on the outside, but also because my Scythe Himuros will be hanging from the top of the case so there is no room up there.

Amazing job Laine! Your Crystal Clear project inspired me to keep modding my V1000Z instead of using a bigger case.

My previous computer was a watercooled crossfire rig in an A05b. It wasn't even close to looking as nice is yours is going to.

I fear your mad photography skills! Do you mind sharing your backdrop and lighting setup? I can take close-ups of computer parts using just sunlight, but it is the full computer pictures I have trouble with.

I think you still will have some space for your HD enclosures, i used the T-60F top panel and modded the case a bit, i also didnt like the aftermarket top grills.

Here are a few pics of my PC-05 in the aircooled section (not wanted to post the pics directly in here), there you can see the space left towards my DVD writer and the nice original looking top panel ofc.

About not seeing the computer -- I think you will see more once you get rid of the big-ol-fan on the GPU and put a slim waterblock on it. I also think the tube connecting the rad and res gets in the way and makes it feel like you're blocking the computer more than you are. Try re-routing. Maybe something like CPU-RAD-GPU-RES/PUMP-CPU.

It does look nice but I perfer a clean case top, partly because of noise but mainly looks.

I will have my Himuros hanging from where you have your fans in the top and not in the 5,25" bay, so I can't imagine it being even close to fit.

Yes I know but I like the old 640-standard for a project.
I'll promise you to post some hires once later on, as I said before.

I think it's 1/2 ID and 5/8 OD but I'm not entirely sure, what I am sure of is that it'll be changed to a thinner, transparent one with Feser Blue Premix running through it, it's well worth the risks imo.

Yeah, I tried it out but I didn't like the inverted V-style the tubing got at the GPU, so I went back to the old routing and I think I got it this time.

The new nickel block and transparent tubing made it a total makeover, haha!

Love the color change - the clear tubing really matches with the "silvery" vibe the case has going on. Will you use water/clear fluid?
