A few months ago I was invited to Oregon to Intel OC lab and got to play with a few samples on LN2 as well as I was able to test a few Z170 boards back at my office with the Autocascade.

Did you get the chance to test out what stable clocks you can hit on water? I know a lot of reviews have said 5 GHz is easy, but I'd be curious to know if 6 GHz is attainable with enough patience.
That'll be interesting. Please do post results. By the way, where are all the easy 7 GHz Intel GPUs? Or, even, CPUs for that matter?

Stable clocks? No way, maybe on cascade. I doubt you'd see more than 5.2-5.3 GHz stable on water.

hwbot is not number 1 source of OCs. Asia had these clocks high up in 2012. Some people know what I talk about.
No one cares of 7ghz these days, nothing but a bragging right among a small ln2 community.

You don't even make sense, do you know what "binning" is? Literally a process of testing done by the overclocker to find the better chips?
"No chip can reach 7ghz non binned" is not a logical statement. Anyone can go out and buy a CPU and get lucky, Splave told me just yesterday that his 7 GHz 7700K was the first CPU he tried...

I will do a little more LN2 in 2017 but for now I am putting time into the Autocascade getting it colder. I went from -100c to -120c with the addition of Tetrafluoroethane at 10psi.
As far as what we can see now, Asus has a one click five gigahertz profile. With a decent fan 5Ghz should be possible with around 1.3v, AIO and water cooling should be able to hit 5.1 ~ 5.2Ghz, single stage phase change you will be looking at 5.4 ~ 5.8Ghz, cascade so far is in the low 6's, and since these chips love cold and run full pot the strong chips are gonna be 6.8Ghz + threaded.
The Autocascade I can run XTU at 6GHz with 8 threads.
I made a few mentions that we will see 7Ghz become more popular and this will make 32M a bit more fun running all out.

That was my impression after a brief chat with Splave and seeing the recent results.
SinOfLiberty was just looking at this from a normal user standpoint where 7 GHz is an unimpressive frequency compared to highest CPU frequency previously achieved, but also was under the impression that these Kaby Lake results were all extremely binned chips. Splave had only one chip so far and it did 7 GHz, which was better than Skylake was for him; I think there will always be people out there binning tens to hundreds of chips but it seems that Kaby Lake is doing 200-300 MHz better than Skylake on LN2 on average so far.
I intend to pick a 7700K up when they're on sale here soon.

Kind of crazy that 32M is now becoming the standard super pi benchmark. I still remember the days of the FX-60 breaking 30 seconds on 1M being a big deal haha

Interesting. That's close to the delta between Kabylake and Skylake on air too, it seems. People are going from maybe 4.6-4.8 GHz on Skylake to 4.8-5.0 GHz on Kabylake.

Thanks for sharing the information Charles , great job. Once you fine tune your auto-cascade please let us know how it went , also have you tested already this chips on your cascade ? Would be awesome an update on that too.
