No I meant +0.005v. I have now pushed my OC a bit further to 4.5ghz and I had to up the voltage offset to +0.030v which gives me a load voltage of 1.23v and load temps while folding@home of max of 67C with 20C ambient temps (this is during a 12 hour period)

I am using LLC 3, +0.030v, CPU PLL @ 1.719v, PLL overvoltage disabled, speedstep disabled, C1E enabled (others off), IGPU disabled.

I just ran a run of IBT 10 runs standard and my average Gflops was 114 and my max temp was 83C. You have to keep in mind that IBT or Linx or Prime95 with AVX instructions stresses the CPU way more than other programs. If my system is 24/7 stable for folding@home, I don't really care how high my temps with these stress programs are. Those temps were with 20C ambients and push/pull on a TRUE black with a cougar 120mm push and a rosewill pull (not sure if having different speed fans is actually a negative or not.)

Incredibly impressed with the board right now. Playing with the second board to see if I can spot any differences with 1.2 and 1.3 UEFI. With only an SSD in, I can get to working windows in 10 seconds flat (even with Radeon 6850 with Cat 12.4). Simply amazing. I just have to press f2 right after i press the power to get into the UEFI. All my old boards i had to wait about 5 seconds after the splash or else I risk losing keyboards altogether. The waiting games are over!!!

The beta looks to be old, still 1.2x while 1.30 is released.

Something strange. I was testing the Team Elite memory (1333 @ 1.5v CAS9) and get memtest errors. I swapped out my second extreme4 and did some other testing and mistakenly used 1.35v (thought it was the crucial and ran memtest. No errors! Anyone heard of lowering voltage making ram more stable? (running stock clock and timings).

Any chance people could post their stable overclock BIOS settings for a 3570k and a extreme4 please?

I know it would help me and probably others.

Thanks for posting these settings, I copied them and am at 4.5 ghz stable. What cooler are you using your temps are much lower than mine.

    I'm using a TRUE Black

I had to change my settings a bit since even though I was CPU stable for anything including days of folding, I would get random crashes when gaming. I am currently @ 4.4ghz

    4.4GHz with the following:
LLC 3, +0.020v, CPU PLL @ auto of 1.832v, PLL overvoltage enabled, speedstep disabled, turbo voltage boost of +0.004v (the first one after auto), C1E enabled (others off), IGPU disabled

Now you have to keep in mind all chips are different and yours may be able to do better with lower voltage and thus lower temps. Also ambient temperatures play a big part. Right now with an ambient of around 20C I am folding@home with a max temp of 66C. (I changed my fans a bit, I'm now using a 1600rpm 120mm fan on the CPU vs a 1200 rpm one I was using.)

I have a Cougar Vortex 120mm 1200rpm fan as intake on top of my case, then I have my 120mm Rosewill 1200rpm fan as rear exhaust, and finally a 140mm rosewill fan as front intake.

I'm having an issue with the Extreme 4 and RAM stability. I've tried two 8GB (2x4) RAM kits now, a Patriot 2000MHz 1.65V kit and a Team Xtreem 2133MHz 1.5V kit. I cannot get either to POST at default RAM or CPU voltage. I thought perhaps it was an issue with the 1.65V RAM so I got the 1.5V RAM instead but can't get it to run at rated clock & timings even with XMP enabled. Setting it manually seems to make it worse. I've upped the voltage on the Team RAM to 1.59 and it's still not stable. Memtest bootable CD reboots the system immediately. In-windows memtest produces an error within 20 minutes or so. IBT extreme test fails within the first 10 minutes but passes the standard test.

    Thoughts?

I have issues with the z77 x6 failing to boot with any ram at cas7. I know the ram is capable in the old asus board. not sure whats up with that. But board works nicely with rams at 2133 8-9-7-25

Ran into my first major issue with my Asrock Z77 Extreme4 after doing a fresh install of Win7 SP1 (on a previous fresh installation of Win7 non-SP1 the issue wasn't observed).

The problem was that my PC would completely freeze whenever I plugged in a USB flash disk or USB hard drive into one of the two USB3.0 ports next to the PS/2 socket. Attempting to boot windows would always freeze at the Windows logo with a drive plugged into these ports. I believe the issue could be related to Win7SP1, since previously I had installed it only as a hotfix (which interestingly is known to have issues properly upgrading the USB drivers), but this time went straight for an SP1 integrated ISO to save time.

There are a few reports of this issue floating around the web (I did a google search) so I thought I'd post a work-around I've found:

    1. Enter the UEFI BIOS and find the USB settings
    2. Disable the USB 3.0 Legacy support
    3. Save and exit

    Problem solved, no more freezing

    [Edit]
Have installed all Windows updates to my new SP1 installation, and even found a newer version of the ASMedia 1042 USB 3.0 driver (since I've confirmed that's the culprit) but the issue persists when Legacy support is enabled.. so the above solution seems to be the only way to remedy this issue for now.

I first considered Asrock Z68 G3 Extreme4 for purchase, but as it moved forth in time, so ordered Z77 E4. I asked once for Z68 both from vendor and this forum but got no usable response, so gonna try that for Z77 here now.
    - Can someone from Asrock Z77 Extreme4 owners post photographs of board with heatsinks removed? I'd like to send them to EK WB, to hopefully find LC solution that will fit to this board. (I do know that most lga1155 boards run very cool to not need it, but i'd love to put motherboard full cover block for bling purposes in my build). Of course it won't hurt to post pics of heatsinkless E6 as well, i'm guessing that owners of it also may get a bit interested on what LC options can be used on it, even if it won't directly help me (of course unless mosfets/chipset and alike are placed/mounted exactly same on E4 as on E6). As asrock is a bit more of budget / less highly known as vendor for enthusiasts, i see very slight chance for full cover blocks made specially for it unlike for top Asus or EVGA motherboards, but to check compatibility with existing waterblocks - why not? (i suspect big chance for similarities with asus boards, thus maybe blocks made for those might fit to Asrock's E4/E6 as well?)

    P.S.
I still find it hard to understand, why many motherboard reviewers go as far as removing stock heatsinks to check used chip markings, but almost none ever take/post pics without them. Imho there might be lot of boards compatible in layout enough .. but it simply isn't known.

thank you for this update good sir. disable usb 3 legacy support. I dont even know what that is, but I do know third party usb 3 sucks.

Tried some mild overclocking. Got my 3770K to 4.4 with everything auto except level 4 LLC (2nd lowest setting). Going to 4.5 seems to require a lot more effort. My Crucial 1.35v PC1600 CAS11 ram doesn't like anything other than stock settings period. I'll probably just leave it unless I find something else thats around $60 for 16GB lol. Might go for a 3rd board to play with (for the GF) as they are now down to $130!

Seems a new BIOS isn't all they've been working on... Checkout the Z77 Extreme9! Thread title probably needs an update now.

    Slightly off-topic...

    Sup guys!

    I just bought my extreme 4 and a 2500k, ah and also a G.Skill 2x4gb 2133 CL11 RAM.

Not having a good luck with this setup :/ In the very first day, tried to update my bios to 1.3 and it somehow froze my PC, had to take my computer next day to a tech to reprogram my bios, so 20 bucks gone!

After that, started to try some overclocks and updated my bios to 1.3, this time, worked! Thanks god!

1.3 on, got one weird issue, my SSD would not boot anymore, I mean, windows would not boot. So for just coincidence I have discovered that if I set my second hard drive as first boot source, it would load the windows from my main ssd drive... funny uh? Even my SSD alone, would not boot at all, what worked just fine previous the 1.3 update.

Besides that, I also get a keyboard not working at all sometimes after a reboot or shutdown. Once a while when I turn my computer on (cold boot from night to next day) I get a LED error 36, what I have no idea why happens and only goes way when I unplug my computer from wall, wait 1 min and turn it on again.

Updated to 1.4, same problems happens. No boot on cold start, keyboard just does not work after a restart/shutdown and so.

About overclock, I am doing fine.

At 5.0ghz I have now: PLL Overvoltage on, spectrum disable, ram at 2133, offset cpu voltage at +0.085 and C3/C6 off. Still not get it stable tho... once while I get a blue screen so I rise my offset +0.05v.

Hope the next bios update correct those weird problems, or maybe I just get a bad board :/

Nice topic you guys have here, please, if you can, post your bios settings so we can try the OCs

    Hi guys,

    I ordered Extreme4 and 3570K. I have for you a few questions:

    - someone tested XFast Lan ?

    - what do you recommend to install the software from the Asrock and Intel site ?

Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver, Intel® Rapid Storage Technology - I need it ?

The worst thing you can do when you have hardware issues is introduce overclocking into the equation...

You right, but how would I know that was a hardware issue based in the fact that was a brand new motherboard, right?

I just back to 1.2 BIOS ver and gonna try some tests, if does not work, then will have to send this baby back.

Is anyone having "cold boot" problems?
