CPU needs 5.6 GHz to score 7.9 in Windows Experience Index?

I choose to post this here because I believe only elite players can achieve this. Since neither 2 x X5680@4.3GHz nor 2 x X5650@3.8GHz on SR-2 can score 7.9, my hope now relies on a high frequency 980X. I hope next time someone playing 980X with LN2 can help run this after you are done with the benchmarks you want! Cheers!

To the moderators: I hope I didn't mess up the organizations here in this section.

Update [Mar-14-2011]: someone has claimed to be able to achieve 7.9 with a Sandy Bridge 2600K @ 5.6 GHz, without AVX (as he didn't install Win7 SP1). It seems this depends on frequency. However I don't really trust this guy, as he used to claim that i7 960's have good overclockablility on average, which is contradicting the 4.5G LinX Club list.

I'm looking forward to see more results from 2600K and perhaps also SS 980X.

you cannot get 2 w3520's on a SR-2 the SR-2 needs cpu's with dual qpi.

my 980x is running @ stock now (on air cooling, waiting for phase change to arrive) and I just ran the test.
=> 7.7 score (while surfing and playing a movie in VLC-player.)
7.9 should be easy I think.

Those SR-2 are scoring 7.8!. None of them is 7.9 on CPU.

The windows-index is not a accurate and reliable measurement for CPU performance. On my system it scores 7.8 on all 24/7 OC I've tried, on a wide range of speeds, a bit too wide to be accurate.

You should rather use CB 11.5 or vPrime, they are more accurate for CPU.

This isn't about how crap the Experience Index is. It's about how to crack the world-first full score, if no one has ever reached it. We all know that every benchmark has its limitations no matter how widely it is used.

The stock clocked Skulltrail in sig got 7.8 also. Your system should have scored higher IMO....So yah +1 on the limits of Micro$oft's Benchmark.

Looking forward to xtreme cooling people participating, my 980 at 5ghz on water is still 7.8. If a hexacore can even get a 7.9 it will surely take very high clocks.

I'll let it stay in this section. Whatever rig it will take to get 7.9 will either be quite extreme, or not yet even released.

im just curious what microsoft was thinking with this...
why would that much cpu power affect the "windows experience"?
    i say its a bug...

Any updates from the Sandy Bridges? e.g. 5.9GHz with AVX?

If i'd have a SB that makes 5.9 last thing in the world would be to run MS benchmark =))

i heard it takes a CPU next to 10ghz to hit that speed. Maybe future CPUs? Maybe a high clocked 990x?

Hitting 7.9 would take luck, not specific hardware or skill.

I get a different rating almost every time I run the rating.

Why would it take a 10Ghz cpu to be able to "enjoy" Windows with a "full experience index" ???. Huh, are you joking.

    It's a worthless benchmark.

Someone claims that a sandy 2600K @ 5.4GHz could score 7.9. Is it true?
