ty. I built my first computer and added a (already outdated) 6850 card to play games with...but my main thing are multiplayer FPS type games...so far..online sucks for Crysis 2.
I'm not a benchmark guy or anything, just someone who enjoys gaming and messing around with computers a little, but graphics wise..this is sad. After so much hype etc ..Metro 2033 gives my little card more of a strain then this so far..
BTW, anyone beat the campaign yet? (Sorry if its been previously mentioned, I wasn't willing to read 12 pages at the moment)
I have to say this game pulled me in much more than the first Crysis. I played it straight through on the hardest difficulty in shy of 9 hours with only 1 break. Despite peoples complaints here and the apparent vendeta against Crytek, I am quite impressed. The game runs much better than the first ( and Id sooner have a nice looking game with solid performance than a bleeding edge pixel orgy that requires a rendering farm to play ), I found it to be more engrossing and it feels much more polished. The production values are evident and I honestly don't think the game would have been the same as a PC only release. It might of looked better but the product as a whole likely would have suffered due to budget constraints. As a game, it is one of the better experiances I've had in recent memory.
I found things felt much more alive than the first Crysis ( being it was only an island chain and odd mine / military encampment not hard to see why ) As far as the AI though it has its issues and I've seen better but it got the job done for the most part.
Story is kind of all over the place but interesting none the less. And got to love the Hans Zimmer
I'll probaley play through it again and a bit differently when the DX11 content is available ( merely out of curiosity, I honestly didn't find the game lacking visually )

No the AI is by far not sufficent.. its even worse then in the first game... wana see how bad:
Just made made a few minutes into a random level in replay:

You can basically finish all levels with cell personal that way, and even most of the basic aliens grunts fall for the same cheap playstyle. Whoever thought it was a good idea to allow more then on shot in cloak mode and staying cloaked obviously never played the first game... In crysis 1 cloak already was pretty much op... now its god mode.
The only thing I'm glad is that Crysis 2 is more optimized than the first game but too bad its a console port with dumbed down textures and a lack of graphical options. Hopefully if Crytek releases a patch with DX11 like they said, we will get more out of it.

yes, i've read about that in several german forums as well. dx11 patch with enhanced graphics menu should be released tomorrow 28.03. - no official words on it though.

Optimization in that regard means to increase performance, while retaining the same level of quality... in crysis2 thats not the case.. its as you wrote correctly, dumped down. They sacrifice quality for speed.
Hell they used just half res textrues from the first game:

It can't be true that paying users have to mod the game themself, just to put it on par with the older game.

Great, a patch for something that should've been available from the day one.
Though this won't be a plus in my book, at least they are fast to address it. Not as them 3arc tards who failed to deliver a fine working product for 5 months now.

Still doesn't fix the half res textures compared to Crysis 1, unless the update is on the order of gigabytes. Or the crap AI.
I fail to see how simply slapping a DX11 sticker on the game is going to somehow improve it? It's the same textures, AI, animations, etc, but just running through a DX11 executable? What does that change?

Stewie Griffin: Sunshine and farts! What the hell kind of question is that?!
What is the gameplay menu options like? Is there a violence/blood option for younger players? Simple yes or no will do.

I agree that Cryengine 3 is a technically better, but this is why I said nerf, because when I look at screen from Crysis 2, Bulletstorm and Killzone 3 which are similar FPS games at least, they all look very a like too me. The only thing in Crysis 2 I can clearly see a difference in is the lightning.
However my words are fragile as I have not compared them in real life only questionable screens on the Internet.

The only difference between unupgraded cloak and upgraded cloak is drain time... it just gives you a few seconds less.
Also I used cloak only 1/6th of the time in my first play thorugh. Cloak just exposes the crap AI to the max. In crysis 1 the enemies at least have shot randomly around after you have killed a npc that was near by and not just stand there and watched there comrads die.
