Probly cuz the kt400 sucks. or that could be a kt400 w/ a kt333 name. xbit labs said something about Via doing that.

    its red too, thats weird.
now im really confused on what abit mobo to get :|
    kx7-333, kd7, kd7-e.

3rd edit.. it doesnt have sound, raid.

They'll probably have a model that will though.

Any more info about this board? I'd probably take a guess it's the KT333 chipset with the bios options of the KD7.

I have to agree with Ragnarok...with nforce2 coming, why go back to the KT333 chipset? No 8x AGP (like we use it that much).

Here's to hoping this isn't another problematic board like the KD7

There are spots on the board for 2 extra IDE ports, I'm betting 2 bananas there'll be a versioin with RAID! :p

Interesting to see them go back to the KT333, any bets the KT400 is too much of a headache for them, and this is an interim measure?

I think this is just some econo model, no sound, no Lan, no raid. The layout is exactly like the KD7 though with the 4pin 12v, the same mosfets and caps. Its kinda like the KT7-E, cheap Econo, probably $50

I would believe it's a strong possibility indeed that it is the neutered KT400 "KT333" on this board. VIA made it clear that they were no longer going to be making the KT333, and I have been hearing that VIA chipset supplies have been down.

I was wondering how mobo makers were going to handle the neutered KT400 "KT333" chip...it wouldn't seem totally right to just slip them into existing mobos (especially since they are not pin compatible anyway).

Could be all wrong on this...but it makes for good speculation.

Here's how I would base my Decision. If I were planing on not useing an Xp2400 or Up chip I would just go for the KX7. Of course you'd have to mod the XP2200 and below chips to get multipliers on the KX7.
Now If I were to get a XP2400 or up there is no doubt I would buy the KD7, no mods nessasary

Thanks to JAWS for sending me to this thread...

Is the max stock vcore on this one 2.3v like the other KD7 boards?

OPPAINTER seems to be the soul proprietor of the Institute for Advancing the Sales of the KD7...

Dont know if this is good or bad =P

I might be buying one if all this propaganda is true...

And they've gone back to 4X support as well. I agree that it definitely looks like the stripped down version. Looks like ata133 and usb 2.0 are it. Now all we need to know are the bios options.

I for one think this motherboard is a piece of öööö. The KX7-333R is a much better choice. Opp has a point, though- if you don't feel like v-moddong and unlocking, get the KD7 and suffer a slight performance decrease. If you are willing to take the time to v-mod and unlock, the KX7 will definitely reward you for your troubles.

Yeah, that's an enticing feature of the KT400 chipset, but I'd take the time to vmod and unlock myself....unless I got lazy.

Again, just the same speculation...but it could very well be that this new mobo sports the chopped down and rebadged KT400 version of the KT333. If this is so...and knowing the pin layout for the KT400 chipset is different from the KT333, it seems understandable why they might have gone with a new motherboard model altogether.

I'd be curious what the southbridge is...sounds like the VT8235 though.

KD7-E has the VT8235 rather than the VT8233A. Epox has had the same setup for a while.

The only difference in the two southbridges is USB2, support for onboard sound / NIC and a 8 x V-Link (the link between the North and South bridge - which I believe makes no difference in speed at present).

My guess is that this motherboard has been released with the idea of supporting future 333MHz FSB cpu's like asus released A7V333-X
