Cool 7

Pretty incredible. Glad I just ordered one from zipzoomfly.com for $179 Look like this will be a ground breaking new motherboard!

For those who may not have heard,
The first motherboard supporting 802.11g AP functions
The ASUS A8V Deluxe is the ideal networking platform for SOHO and homes. Supporting WiFi@HOME, a unique feature found only in ASUS solutions, users can easily establish an 802.11g wireless LAN through a user-friendly, one-touch set up wizard. Also incorporating industry-leading specifications for CPU, memory, system bus, Gigabit LAN and Dual RAID, the A8V Deluxe is excellent for home server applications.

ASUS WiFi-g (Wi-Fi@HOME) [on Wireless Editon only ]

1. Speeds up to 54Mbps data rates nearly 5 times faster than the 802.11b
2. Compatible with all 802.11b-compliant products
3. One-touch Wizard: WiFi-g can auto-configure SSID, WEP, and search the best channel to setup your Wireless LAN with a single mouse click.
4. Access Point Mode: WiFi-g can work as the base station to be the central connection among all wireless client devices-laptop computers, PDAs, desktop computers and wireless peripherals like printers.
5. WDS function: WiFi-g supports Wireless Distribution System to connect 2 wireless AP wirelessly.
6. Bundle External omni-directional antenna

Supports AMD Socket 939 Athlon 64FX/Athlon 64
This motherboard supports AMD 939-pin Athlon 64 FX/ Athlon 64 processors with 1MB/512KB L2 cache which is based on 64-bit architecture. It features 2000 MT/s HyperTransport Bus, dual-channel un-buffered DDR400 memory support and AMD Cool 'n' Quiet! Technology.

AMD Cool 'n' Quiet! Technology
Supports AMD Cool 'n' Quiet! Technology, which monitors system operation and automatically adjusts CPU voltage and frequency for a cool and quiet environment.

Dual RAID
The VIA K8T800Pro chipset incorporated two Serial ATA connectors with RAID 0(striping), RAID 1(mirroring), and JBOD(spanning) functions while the Promise 20378 controller provides another two Serial ATA and two UltraATA133 connectors for RAID 0(striping), RAID 1(mirroring), RAID 0+1, and multiple RAID functions. The motherboard is the ideal solution to enhance hard disk performance and security.

ASUS WiFi-g (Wi-Fi@HOME)
The ASUS WiFi-gâ„¢ card supports 54Mbps 802.11g Wireless LAN and WDS (Wireless Distribution System) and bundles the exclusive Software Access Point to save the extra cost of an stand-alone AP. In addition, the card comes with an external omni-directional antenna and one-touch user-friendly utilities that allow quick connection to notebooks, PDAs and other WLAN peripherals.

IEEE 1394 interface
IEEE 1394 interface provides high speed digital interface for audio / video appliances such as digital television, digital video camcorders, storage peripherals & other PC portable devices.

AI NET (GbLAN)
The AI Series supports Gigabit LAN by integrating the Marvell controller, equipped with a unique net-diagnosing utility- VCT (Virtual Cable Tester). The controller intelligently detects net connection status up to 100 meters from a remote location and reports the distance of bad cable.
AI AUDIO (8-channel digital audio)
A8V Deluxe supports eight channels of audio output. AI Audio automatically detects and identifies what types of peripherals are plugged into the audio I/O jacks and notifies users of inappropriate connection. There are also three Universal Audio Jack (UAJ®), which eliminates cable connection errors and confusion among Line-in, Line-out and Mic jacks. With the bundled WinDVD Platinum 5, A8V Deluxe supports 7.1-channel output, making your movie-watching experience truly a blast!

AI Overclocking
A unique option in BIOS that enables quick overclocking up to 30% (depends on CPU and RAM). It automatically detects and optimizes every relevant parameter to provide both performance and stability.

The BIOS in AI Series also keeps all the special design for overclocking:
-- Flexible CPU Core Voltage Adjustments in 0.025V increments over defaults
-- SFS (Stepless Frequency Selection) up to 400MHz at 1MHz increanerts
-- ASUS C.P.R.(CPU Parameter Recall)

AI BIOS
CrashFree BIOS 2~
Whenever BIOS gets corrupted, ASUS CrashFree BIOS 2 allows users to reboot the computer and perform an smart auto-recovery procedure through the motherboard support CD.

Q-Fan 2~
This unique technology intelligently and automatically adjusts CPU/Chassis fan speeds according to system load and temperature, enabling users to work in a distraction-free environment with minimal noise.

ASUS POST Reporter~
A voice warning design during POST notifies users of any system errors, which means no more complicated LED messages!

We must see you're OC results. I'm planning on putting an FX-53 and A8V under a direct die phase change.

I hope that o/c option doesn't flatten out all the timings to achieve the o/c and that this board is as solid as it's feature set. Looks very promising.

Don't use the AI Overclocking option if you get the board. The same option was on my old P4C800E-D. You'll get better results using all manual settings.

How much extra does the onboard wiresless cost. Any news??

I hope it's isnt more than just buying a Wireless 54mb PCI card.

Not sure how much it costs, but the board supports 802.11g (WiFi-g) which is faster but more expensive than 802.11b.
