Actually, that thing would still be called a 3400+. The 3500+ and 3800+ are the first S939 offerings besides the FX-53, according to the roadmaps I saw ...

But waaaay too expensive, my wallet says it's just S754 for me, then.

    Prices don't look right.

$700 for a 2.4GHz S754 3700+ Athlon 64? The 3400+ replaced the 3200+ at $400, and it knocked the 3200+ price down to $280 when it was released.

Since that 3500 is a newcastle, that means it only has 512kb of cache right? I wonder how it would oc.

    jfr0,
    Yes that is USD.

They where just added to our database today, so the price will more than likely go down for release.

AMD's really going to piss alot of people off with this priceing of theirs.

Expensive (3500+ and 3800+) 939's now and then the the cheaper slower ones later?? why??? get the customers now before Intel gets their act together.

Amen brother. Get that 3300+and 3100+ out shortly after this. Otherwise they are going to price themselves into people waiting for 90nm. We'ev all waited eons already... whats a couple more months when cpu's are $400.

Prices will definately go down! They wont have the non fxs be more than $500. Also, the reason why they are not bringing out a bunch new stuff right now, is because they are already on top with performance, and need to watch out for the future. They are further developing the technology so they can give us a better product when intel brings out there next processor.

Just countering intel and having slightly better processors doesn't seem like it will be enough for amd to be a dent in Intel. They should strike now while Intel is weak. AMD seems to need a pretty big edge to make up much ground...but I could be wrong.

They always release the faster cpus first so they can win the "ultimate desktop cpu battle" lol then after come the cheap and castrated stuff.

    ANyone seen the overclockers.com article?

    Get this;

AMD is releasing their $200-300 CPU's in the August to December time span (3100+ and 3300+)

    On August 1st INTEL is releasing their LGA775 Prescott 64-bit'ers. a 3ghz (530) 64 bit'er will cost the same as a 32 bit one; $190...

So in August Intel will be offering a cheaper 64 bit cpu and motherboards that use PCI-E, DDR2 (or DDR) whilst AMD is trying to get us to drop a few hundred more for their s939 setups...

I really hope AMD's CEO's get smacked in the face and release the 3100+, 3300+, 3500+ and 3700+ at the same time (Juneish). Otherwise they might, nay, WILL, loose customers (back) to Intel

that would make since when talking about any company other than Intel and Microsoft. weak does not pertain to those companies. they are super powers in the industry.

True, in the average consumers mind. However Intel is in a big bind right now. The tejas got cancelled because of monstorous heat dissapation and now they have to go back to the drawing board. That means they have to milk out every little bit of the P4s power until they can make an alternative new CPU. So they are as weak as they have almost ever been, especially considering they were already losing the performance battle when the tejas got cancelled.
