    Abit AI7 adventure - Prommy ?

I nabbed myself an Abit AI7 and 3.0C L336B264 (it's a B! ) cpu. Had to stick it in my Accent HT200S desktop case as it's the only one i have. Was planning to get some power + reset switch connector wires to set it up on a bench.

    All Pics: http://www.fileshosts.com/pentium4/D1/abit/AI7/web/

Lovely NB heatsink (feels a bit loose though)

New 3.0C heatsink with small copper round center

The plastic bracket's white pegs were bloody hard to get out. But finally got them out to install MCX4000 with 80 to 120mm aluminium adaptor

    Reserved for benchmarks:

Question would the angled cpu socket work okay with Prommy Mach2? I asked nVentiv and they said they don't know as they haven't tested the AI7 yet

I'd think the Prometiea should fit on there fine, just alittle awkward.

the CPU to bracket size still has to be the same so CPU heatsinks can still fit on it the same, so I'd think the prometeia would still be fine on it.
    although just alittle weird...

    what is a AI7 anyways?

"The command and conquer model," said the EA CEO, "doesn't work. If you think you're going to buy a developer and put your name on the label... you're making a profound mistake."

AI7 is 865PE chipset with 3.2v vdimm - it's the IC7 Max3's little brother who is only a few % behind the IC7 Max3 in benchies and gaming hehe

    AI7 costs AUD$190 - 195 here
    IC7 Max3 costs AUD$352 - 375 here

I just got one today to eva2000, The angle'd CPU socket i wasnt ready to see. Gonna have to make a bottom gasket for my vapo if it makes the cut.

I just loaded windows on in with a 2.6c, zalman. I had a IC7max3, and the Vmem voltages were all over the place, This board is right on. 3.21 showing in the bios. I loaded windows @ 250fsb 1:1 with my good kingston Hyperx BH-5's. Best ive ever had them stable @ was 246.

Loading benchmarks on it now. Man you took a lot of pics, My congrats to you!!!

I started a AI7 thread before i saw yours.. I might just blend into yours if you dont mind. Just my findings, Man you've got the pics covered!!!

    I paid $125 shipped.

As far as being a few % behind, my IS7-e used to out benchmark my current IC7. Sold a 2.4c and that board for my current.

If the memory scores are up to par, this will be replacing my IC7.,

Testing using a saphire 9600 pro with 2.8ns memory. Kingston hyperx 3500, geil 3500 platinum, Geil 4200,3.2c 2 good 2.6c, that will do 290fsb on air

Vapo later if it benchmarks nice. If you dont want to merge/share threads just PM me and no problem. your spotlight.

Tedinde, nah feel free to blend your results in with mine - got the 2nd post reserved for my benchies anyway

The voltages are very stable on this AI7.. set 2.7v vdimm and it stays at 2.7v Probably as a result of the AI7 supporting Prescott out of the box it's circuitry is much better ?

3.2C that does 290fsb that an ES sample ?

3.2C that does 290fsb that an ES sample ?

I messed up when typing, I just added in the 3.2c for testing and didnt read the rest of my sentance, it was supposed to read as above, i fixed it.

I've tried again 3 times, installing the Iguru, even doing a repair on it, and just checking the OCing utility. It will not install. Have you had any luck.

There is a review on it and it shows it working on hardocp,

I just downloaded from abit too, Clockgen doesnt work. Getting crap 1:1 scores on memory, Mid 5's @ 245fsb 1:1 cas 2-2-2-5 but 5:4's screaming?? But over 6 @ 5:4 @ 280fsb?? very confusing.

And i've had 3 IS7's, best i ever got out of one was 6.6k in sisoft

Got to get this 1:1 problem im having straightend out if im going to stick with my 3.2c and keep this board.

    Gonna be a long night!!!

Just got the OC guru working, changing ddr volts, and cpu volts from windows!! very sweet.

Hmm there is a new bios, i just hit the flash menu, updateing now. Nothing like updating @ 1:1 @ 250fsb, hehe

Yeah i've been benching the memory. Runs the same as a IS7, Im trying to get this 1:1 knocked out. Moslty because i can sell my IC7 Friday if this board is worth it.

I've updated to the new bios, Still slow memory benchmarks. I'll have some up.

I've only used my good kingston bh-5's so far, Known good to 255fsb 1:1 @ cas 2-2-2-5, Even running @ SPD @ 225fsb it's disabled. Gonna try booting @ stock, then chaging in windows.

i'm still installing apps etc.. will try and see what i get at 1:1

btw, you're BH-5 in cpuz what is the spd set to pc3200, pc2700, pc3500 ?

on some motherboards PAT and memory tweaks only work when memory is detected as pc3200 and above

found the solution hehe at http://forum.abit-usa.com/showthread...&highlight=AI7

from fellow Aussie DNX from OCAU forums
I have been testing AI7 and just put NB strap to 667, 1:1 ratio, GAT to Auto,Auto,Auto,DIS,DIS and mem at SPD and now performance mode in CPU-Z is enabled.

    Will do some more testing.

also http://forum.abit-usa.com/showthread...&highlight=AI7 - seems AI7 had a 1.2 and 1.3 bios before but only 1.4 is listed now

Have found that if i put nb strap to 667 which turns on PAT, 1:1 and 5:4 shows up as opposites in cpu-z but benchmarking shows they are at correct settings. So 1:1 shows as 5:4 and 5:4 as 1:1.
Latencies of ram show up correct. I'm using Corsair XMS3200C2 rev 1.1.

I shall try the 667. Heard people were trying it on their is7's

Scores are dead on @ 5:4

Here's a screenie. On air. Best i could get out of my IS7 on air was 295fsb 5:4, 6.5k in sisoft.

This is a brand new board, first bug, no problem as long as a workaround exists till a bios update. They have to fix it or sales will drop!!!! Forum reviews are very powerful!!!

This is a very good 2.6c i just got

Ok tried the 667 strap, no matter what going by cpu-z, assuming it's right, I dont think it's reading something right. rebooted 3 times 667fsb strap, 1:1 CPU-z reports 5:4, rebooted still saying 1:1, but in windows it's reporting 5:4 in sisoft and cpu-z

Look at the efficiency in sisoft 151%.

And the screenie. 5855 @ almost 194 fsb after the 5:4 divider?? No way it's "gat" is that good at 194fsb.
