    OC'ers best!

A guy at amdmb.com forums asked me to modified a version of bios v1.0 so I took the original file modified by Mickey Page (thanks Mickey!) from Logan's website and added SATA bios v4.2.27
He's also hosting the newly modified version now, thanks Logan!

Update: a few reports of corruption have surfaced so I'm forced to remove the "SATA corruption free" claim.

Update: when Abit released bios v1.2, they posted this warning:
Once update this BIOS revision 12, backward flash to 11 and 10 is impossible.
Meaning if you're currently using anything newer than v1.2, you might not be able to flash back to previous versions but AFAIK, using the /F switch (force flash) should work. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Bios v1.0, 10 & 10.5 multi's operational at high FSB w/CPU Interface enable and new SATA bios:

For NF7/NF7-S v2.0 only! - tested and found safe to flash but none the less, use at your own risk!

What is all this I hear about SATA corruption anyway? I use a SATA drive as my primary bootup drive, d10, and have never had any corruption. Enlighten me.

At certain high FSB , it's a known problem with SATA corruption. Much like the unlocked pci/agp bus when oc'ed pass 190. I remember getting file corruption when i went pass 210 on a 8K3A+ for the first time i was ocing. I think that's when I busted my cherry i managed to get 10x208 with a 1600 Palomino. At 210 bam there goes windows Evrytime I got to 209 it would start. 210 was the reformatting barrier for me. I think i formatted that drive at least 10x in 1 night

    WoW, the good 'ol days

I'm using it now. Not bad at all xcept the temp reading is off. Up by 10c on my board.

I have it in zip format. Anybody wants it just shoot me a pm with your email addy.

Sorry but that's not it, SATA corruption happens all the time not matter what FSB

I beleive it was bios v1.4 that fixed it by adding the option of 1ms

Wierd... I've booted (successfully) all the way up to 250FSB, and POSTed all the way up to 266FSB. No corruption. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Would you like to test for corruption? try this then:

    http://forum.abit-usa.com/showthread...nRAR#post62550
Compressing a file is a good way to test if you have problems with data corruption...

It should preferably be many smaller files (tend to cause most problems)

And if possible you should also encrypt the file... Using compression is not important it seems, you can just use the "store" function (N/A compression) if your program supports it...

I use WinRAR myself in which you can just use the "test" button when you have created the archive to verify the compression...

Compressing for example Temporary Internet Files can be a good idea if it's many files ~3000 or so... Or whatever you like, the whole Windows directory would also be a good choice, however you wont be able to add all files because they are in use...

Because I didn't read it carefully. I was told you modded the one I have with sata from 18 and assumed that was the one you were talking about. The sata you used is from a different mobo?

    Actually...just rechecked it...it's the one Logan did...sorry.

NO KIDDING! I told you I didn't read it carefully and said I was sorry..what do you want, blood?
At the time, the latest bios for Nf7 was 18...if I had read it carefully (as I should have) I would have realized you took the sata from a different mobo bios. I read almost every post to this forum and have gotten into a bad habit of reading them too fast. I would like a copy of your modded bios...please

that "sorry" wasn't there before so I thought you were telling me that your Loggan's version indeed had the new SATA.

    Just a misunderstanding...

but I can't attached it due to file size limit which btw should be more like 256k to accomodate bios files.

    Can you host it?

I don't have any space at the moment. I added my email address in above post, if you just remove the word remove. I would host it if I could.

    Dude,

On the file I sent you, can you please confirm SATA corruption fixed (using the method above) and multi's 10 & 10.5 being present and usable when CPU Interface is enable? TIA

btw: I was misinformed and Loggan is not the author of this bios.

Never mind about the multi's, I have confirmation that they're there and working good...
I still need confirmation on the SATA corruption issue though so I can repost the link. TIA

btw: anyone else wants to try it?

Thanks by I need SATA corruption test.
You can have it anyway but beware, this is for NF7/NF7-S v2.0 only!. It's not an official bios so use at your own risk!
