I first bought Xtreme DDR 3700 which was hitting DDR500 in some rigs. In mine it was 249 1:1 for 2x 512mb, 2.8v with the beta 1.4 bios, 248 1:1 for the 1.5 release bios. Sandra was in the 6050 range. I v.modded to 3.15v, and reduced the timings to 3-8-3-3 and it scored 6150. But I see a lot of posts with PC4000 @ 270-280 1:1 reporting the same Sandra scores (different mobos) ?? The big thing for me was I had to use the auto-normal-auto-enabled-enabled settings in the game accelerator, and disable fast writes in Smartgart.

I then bought some Corsair XMS3500C2, I run it at 5:4 257 2-2-2-5. Now everything in the GAT is set to auto, fast writes is turned on, Sandra scores are down, and 3dmark scores are WAY up !

Since it all happened in one weekend, I didn't measure each individual step, but the overall changes were
    -248fsb to 257fsb (but dropped from 1:1 to 5:4)
    -GAT settings to auto
    -fast writes on
    -loaded DX8.1
    -3-8-3-3 to 2-2-2-5
-lost 300 points in Sandra, gained 1500 points in 3dmark2k1

Opp said it, Zroc said it, but I based it on Sandra scores and had to prove it to myself, now I'm very glad I did . I've only been hanging around Xtreme for the last 6 weeks or so on a regular basis, and that info was worth the price of admission. In spades

    Yes they are BH-5 !

Yup, me too, Same ram, and same story woohoo !

Given that PC3500 5:4 2-2-2 is faster than pc4200 1:1 3-4-4-8 (due to the horrible performance penalty of the high latency crappy chips that are out today) then that actually makes Mushkin pc3500 the fastest (gauranteed) ram on the market... Is there any other manufacturer that specs p3500 or higher at 2-2-2 ? Even my XMS 3500 is rated at 2-3-3

Just got my ADATA 4000, it is running at 275 1:1 at the moment with 2.85v. I will do the vmem mod today hopefully, so I can get them up to 300 if I can.

But at 275, they are not anything special, much worse than my previous RAM at 5:4.

But before making a conclusion, I will try it with more volt to see how it performs at around 300FSB.

NOTE: They did not work at all with the 5:4 divider, only 1:1, is this a bug, or are they only rated for 1:1 ?

Bummer... I almost bought some too, but several people on this forum convinced me to test my XMS3500 at 2-2-2 at 5:4 vs 3-4-4-8 at 1:1, and I saw that the performance was worse at 3-4-4 at 1:1...

Anyhow, many mobo's are having problems with many ram modules at 5:4 and 3:2 ... Hopefully it can be fixed with some work on the bios.

thats extremely fast mem but when in dual channel mode and 5:4 divider it will not go that high only up to 255fsb on 3.2v

    thats a strange thing

yup... like I said, alot of ram modules are having issues at 5:4.

Some dont run at all, no matter what the speed, and some may may not get anywhere near the same speed at 5:4, some also seem to have really poor performance at 5:4 as well.

After giving it some more juice, at 3.1volt, the RAM was stable at 287, passing memtest and loading windows etc. At 290 I got memtest errors. The performance is similar or even a bit worse than my OCZ at 300 FSB with 5:4 divider....

hmmm, this gives a man a lot to think about. I was going to pick some adat or ocz pc4000 very soon, but am thinking against it.

I just wish my bh-5 acted like all of yours. It will only do 280 5:4 2.8v at 2-7-3-2. Needs 2.92 to do 285 5:4

hyperx pc3500 does 285 2-7-3-2 at 2.8v 5:4 but has better performance than twinmos bh-5 at same settings. Thing is ram seems to be stuck here. You guy's still think I am better off with my current ram? (I know I have been reading, but wanted to ask anyway)

So what mem would you guys recommend i pick up right now for maximum preformance. I am pelt cooling a 2.4c/2.6c and now that the adata 1:1 idea is gone which mem do you guys say i should get?

Damn corsair 3500 is still rediculously expensive. I would rather not spen quite as much. I have some geil gd 3200 that will do 2-6-3-3 up to ddr482. What kind of preformance is gained between this and 2-5-2-2?

The mushkin is not so bad at $160 for 2x256mb.

Just imagine the insanity if the adata ran 2-5-2-2 at ddr 600+...that would yield some pretty good preformance i bet.

Just get some Kingston HyperX PC3000. As far as I know its still using BH-5 chips. Basically anything with Winbond BH5 chips on em will do nicely.

Yeah I was a bit disappointed also with the A-DATA, was hoping for 300FSB, but I guess not... Maybe it needs cooling I dont know, I havent added anything yet on them. Do you think that would help ?

Im happy with my hyperX, does 237@ 2225 timings, and 510ddr with slack. But slower @ 510 than 237.

So with slack timings Kingston could sell it as PC4000 like they are doing now, with a new sticker.

I don't know if that kingston hyperx pc3000 would be able to do 2-5-2-2 with 5:4 mem divider when I get up into 300fsb. getting 237 would be pretty good I would imagine with that mem, but not good enough. Mushking 3500 isn't too bad for $160 if it can do above 240fsb.

right now the problem i have is that my motherboard has problems with running ram at 5:4. I have mushkin level 2 black 2-2-2-5 but if i try to go to high i get problems in windows with the memory. I am afraid to run my FSB any higher i will need to run my ram at 1:1 and therefore have to get PC4000...

When does your memory start to die out? How are you sure it is the memory? Could you just loosten the timings a little bit to compensate?

yeah i could but then what would be the poing of running it at 5:4 when i could get some memory that could do 1:1 / and would then be faster becuase of the other memory having relaxed timings

if i put the mushkin at 1:1 with the cpu i can do FSB 217-that is spec, i haven't pushed it any higher. when i put the FSB @ 5:4 i can't even get into windows with an effective memory speed of 213 or 214.

also if i run the ram at 1:1 then i get 0 memtest86 errors at 217. but if i run it say at 5:4 = memory FSB 208 i get hundreds and hundreds of errors. of course this happens with erery memory that i run at 5:4 i think it is a glitch/problem with the motherboard.

    thoughts?

    thanks

I am realy not sure what mem I should get. I wanna put my 2.4cunder my pelt, which should be able to do 300-315fsb. I would like some mem that will do 2-5-2-2, but won't hold me back. Does any exist? I need the perfect stick or ram . My geil gd will do ddr482 at 2-6-3-2, and that is with like 2.8v, and it gets a warranty until 3.1v, I am gonna try this stuff in there, but ddr482 is right on the edge of where my proc will be.
