    new winbond ch-5 !

hi guys ! the new winbond ch-5 chips seems to rock!
    here are the speccs :
    Features:
    - Chip on board: Winbond W942508CH-5.
    - CL 2,5-3-3 (default SPD).
    - CL 2-2-2 (tested).
    - 400MHz DDR.
    - Package: 184-pin DIMM.
    - Unbuffered.
    - Alimentazione: 2,5V (± 0,3V max).
    - Serial Presence Detect (SPD) EEPROM on board.

    Winbond BH-5 - 0.175 micron

    Winbond CH-5 - 0.13 micron

A-data seems to be the only one with these new chips

here is a thread about it : http://www.amdforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=215281

and you can buy them here http://www.swzonesystem.it/product_i...roducts_id=133

I got TwinMOS PC3700 2x256MB and seriously have doubts, that those are remarked CH-5.... If not from the highest quality CH-5, but still CH-5....

    The reasons:

    - dislikes RAS-to-CAS = 2 ( see that japanese screenshot @amdmb ), pretty much the same as the CH-5 and dislike the BH-5....

    - hates voltages above 2.8V - just gets worse.... that I give out to the 0.13mm production process....

    - Runs high 480s@ 2.7V without a problem on EPoX 4PEA+ MoBo...

Tomorrow I'll get another 8RDA+, that would do 220MHz+ and will test them out....

    What's the big deal?
    My Geil PC3700 and it's 4.5ns chips do ddr504 @ 3.08v.
cas2, 6,3,3. For me to upgrade, I'll need something that'll do about ddr520.

I added two to my shopping cart, but I can't read the stuff to fill it in.

I did see though that they do ship to anywhere, at least any country is selectable from a drop down list. Including United States.

Hmm, my OCZ PC3700 EL seems to dislike tRCD of 2 also. Have only tried on a KD7-S (KT400) and NF7-S v1.2 (nForce2). Yet other users have OCZ EL memory that likes it. Some say it's a chipset issue, others say it's a memory issue.

That's in an Intel rig, though, right? Slightly different than running at that speed in an AMD rig.

Yet again this backs up my belief that OCZ uses Winbond.

If Adata handles some of OCZ's manufactturing (which they do), and Adata uses Winbond, and they act identical. Then they are just rebadged modules.

I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary (at least).

I came across this french website's news item last week, might interest you, which I have translated into English via Google:

    http://www.hardware.fr/news/lire/22-11-2002/#5366
Following our news preceding, OCZ contacted us for us given more precise details on their new chips memories. In fact, this news memories DDR466 and 500 are based on "die" Winbond DDR500 which are packaged by using a packaging TSOP specific to OCZ, the EL GDR, which is finer and which thus offers a less thermal resistance. Now remain to know if these chips will be more powerful in practice than the future chips 4ns of Winbond, which will use for their part a traditional packaging.
Plus the fact OCZ mentioned they had moved to a 0.13-micron IC process and Winbond are producing these CH-5 that are also 0.13-micron based.

Hmm, wonder if there might be an issue with certain batches of Winbond IC based memory that makes them dislike tRCD of 2 at high speeds. Might explain why TerroH8er and myself have problems with our OCZ EL memory, yet other NF7-S and nForce2 owners don't.
