Zerex + Animals = Be very careful

So I’ve read all the warnings and it was even spoken about briefly a few times in the many Zerex posts we’ve had in the past, but didn’t realize how easy it was to slip. I was dumping all the fluid out of my loop due to some heater core switches I will be doing this week. Any way my fiancés little crap dog quietly strolls into the bathroom, but I ended up hearing her nails against the floor as she had her face inches away from my container of at least 40ozs of Zerex and water. I quickly pushed the dog away as if I was Neo (Matrix) trying to save Trinity from something dumb, I also said “NOOOOOO” to the dog but I don’t think she understood the seriousness of the situation. She then tried to approach my container of dog killing fluid again and then I saw her life flash before my eyes, and I said “NOOOOO” while gently pushing her aside in hopes to save her life. She soon gave up and her life was spared.

My point is out of ALL THE CRAP I had laying around on the bathroom floor the very first thing this dog went towards was the Zerex. I wasn’t sure if I had caught the dog in time, but luckily she’s white and has long fur around her mouth. So over time her fur will turn an off-white color from just drinking water. There were no pink colors grabbing my attention on her beard so I figured she escaped without injury.

Guys/Gals just remember to be very careful with Zerex or any potentially hazardous fluids around your pets. It only takes one mistake worth only seconds of your time to lose something you may of cared a lifetime for.

don't trust the warning labels. if they drink the stuff, they turn into eggs and hatch out as gremlins. and you remember those guys... not a pretty sight. so unless you want to be eaten by an ebil monstur... keep out of reach of pets... OR DIE

Any Anti-freeze is dangerous to leave around animals, its got a sweet taste and animals will go for it to drink, even cats and dogs. In fact in most states I believe its a crime to leave it exposed where animals can have at it.

For real taste it tastes sweet...( i work in a car shop and have had it in my mouth many times...)

That is why they like it they can smell it...if you put three bowls down for a cat one with water one with milk and one with antifreeze they will go for the antifreeze anytime.

Antifreeze is delicious. California passed a law in 2003 requiring that a bittering agent be added to antifreeze sold in the state so that small children and pets would be less likely to winterize their intestines.

that's why adding it to wine can cut a very vinegary taste and make it almost drinkable. Of course it can kill you as well which is why adding it is illegal...

note it damages your brain and your kidneys can shutdown... http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/e...cle/002754.htm

Its just crazy how its the first thing she went to. All is good is alive and annoying this morning so it seems everything went well haha . I personally don't like the taste, but it has a sweet sorta smell though. Kind of like ... something grandma would make and thats the only reason why you would it, otherwise you would stay away haha.

hehe, you must not have had the dog very long. I'm surprised that's the first accident you've had. It's ALWAYS good to be sure you keep the animal seperate from whatever computer work you do

It’s actually not my dog, it’s my fiancés. I’ve had a dog several years back but this dog is new to my life, not to hers. It’s only like a foot tall. I want to punch it sometimes I swear lol. I’m not a fan of small dogs, but wouldn’t want one dieing because my computer could idle at ambient room temp.

I can for a fact tell you it doesnt taste sweet. It tastes more like you drank some red colored 0.5 molar HCl.

As to it attracting animals, it does infact do this. I am lucky in that my animals dont like the smell of it, but it does attract a good number of them, so as nu said, keep them away from the zerex.

And yes it will kill them if they drink enough of it.

A sip or two wont kill a large animal, but if they start lapping the stuff up (or its a smalll animal) you could be in some serious trouble very quickly.

supposedly dogs have olfactory glands that are about 100,000 times the sensitivity of a human's. they can smell direction of travel of a person, cancer and lots of cool stuff...

if they'd just stop eating anitfreeze >_<

normally, if im working on anything computer related, or working on anything at all that includes sharp objects, electronics, chemicals, etc. in the work, i make sure to either
A) close my doors
B) put the dogs outside
or
C) yell, curse, and shove my dogs out whenever they come in my room
