Anand Crossfire semi-review

Seems Anand got their hands some pre-production Gigabyte Crossfire stuff and got some benchmarks thrown down

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2477

good news being that it seems Crossfire is up and working as it should which HOPEFULLY means that we'll see this stuff soon

(if this was already posted somewhere, please delete; I looked)

The 7800 in SLI might not seem much now...but the key diff there is drivers drivers drivers.

X850 drivers have come a long way...7800GTX even in sli, drivers are still improving from launch.

In a year or so, we'll be seeing the diff between x850 cross and 7800 sli jump to 20-30 fps.

Crossfire improves performance more than SLI. I think that has to do with the fact that ATI tried AFR to begin with and NV borrowed the old Voodoo SLI and implemented AFR.

This is a great step forward, although I think SLI has more room for improvement, so we'll probably see SLI come closer to Crossfire performance.

I guess ATI has room for improvment also.
And drivers, do they use cat 5.7 and beta for chipset for crossfire ?
Or do they use beta cats for crossfire and card ?

Gigabyte has stated that they not only have NVIDIA SLI working on their GA-K8AMVP Pro, but that dual 3D1 cards will work as well (with a modified BIOS and driver at the moment). We haven't had a chance yet to test this ourselves, but we will definitely have something up on the combination as soon as we can.
Wow thats pretty sweet.
