Best 925XE overclocking board??
Well I think I might pull the trigger on a 925XE motherboard, PCI-E Graphics card and DDR2 ram. I already have my 570J ES chip. I was wondering which motherboard you guys recommend. Options are Abit Fatality, Asus P5AD2-E, or DFI 925X-T2 (I know this is a 925X, not sure if and when DFI is releasing the 925XE-T2). I will be pairing it up with 2X512 of OCZ PC2-4200 or PC2-5400 Platinum ram. I really like all the features available on the Asus board but does this board have a vcore droop problem like the P4C800E had? I don't want to have to mod the board. I have this 570J ES chip and would love to do 300+ FSB if possible.
Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions.

ASUS board has fairly weak Vcore supply (ok for aircooling, might be a problem w/ phasechange). Also there is not much space between the PCIe and PCI slots (so your not going to put much extra video cooling there if you are useing any PCI cards). Other than that its probably an excellent board.
I'm useing the Abit Fatality mobo myself and really liked it so far. Only 4 SATA ports thou so it might be a problem and only one IDE. But very good voltage adjustments and strong voltage regulation. Just enough space to install CNPS-7700 too
Been up to 310FSB zone so far with the board and that's pretty much where this Gallatin 3.46EE maxes out.
Waiting for the DFI board.
Sampsa&Kamu used the Abit board in the latest SPi8M WR run

Thanks Macci!!
Any idea when the DFI board will be out??? Also do you think you got lucky with that Abit board, cause I heard that it is a luck of the draw to get over 300FSB with the Fatality (not sure if it is true though)

I know three Fatality boards (mine, The Stilt's and Sampsa's) and they all do easily over 300. Shamino hit over 400 w/ Abit too?

I vote for the P5AD2-E Although I agree with macci about power reg. It's unbeatable in features. Reaches 365mhz with ease too.
I heard DFI's not gonna bring out the 925XE in favour of 955x.

I think the knowledge is from various reviews where a engineering sample of a Extreme edition is used (minimum multiplier = 12x)... so 12x 365 = 4380MHz wich is'nt much overclock for a 3.73GHz CPU.
The example of 400MHz FSB wich Shamino reached on a AA8XE it should be noted that the chipset was cooled to -50 celcius degrees

that is right. Unfortunately, 14x is the lowest you can go on a prescott and this leaves non-phase changers in the dark if they want the highest fsb's.
As Abit and Asus 925XE both can reach 350mhz FSB with EASE (no extra nb cooling...etc..etc) 350mhz x 14x is just impossible for the watercooler (let alone air cooling).

I have both P5AD2-E and the Fatality AA8XE. My 3.73 goes on both boards to exactly the same frequency 4.81 GHz. However, for 24/7 folding with 100% processor load, I found the Fatality stable at 4.4Ghz, and the Asus does only around 4.20 GHz. The Asus lacks active cooling on the NB, and its mosfet cooler gets extremely hot as well.

So HOW was your 3.73EE not stable at 4.4Ghz on the P5AD2-E? Processor producing errors? Or did the system completely "cut-out"?
Do you think it was due to heat of mosfets or the heat of NB?

Exactly my question charlie.
Also, has MSI unlocked the 266 and above FSBs for not 1066FSB processors? I also need more than 1.49Vcore from the MSI. Other than those two things I think I would spring for the MSI.
- keeping a close eye on this thread...soon to get a 925xe board.
