PLEASE HELP!! Brand new DFI 875P-T and 560J problems!!

I just got my new 560J and DFI 875P-T and I am having major problems. I cannot get a fresh install of windows on the computer. It boots from the windows cd goes thru the setup and then it says setup is starting windows and then BSOD it says PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

I have tried a couple of different hard drives and the same thing. Everything was working before I switched the mobo and CPU.

PLEASE HELP!!!

I am completely upset by my DFI LanParty 875P-T...so much so that I am attempting an RMA return to Newegg. I just ordered a DFI LanParty 925X-T2 for a couple of dollars more. Of course, this brought the requirement of PCI-e graphics and DDR2 but I think it was time to make the jump anyway. Anyway, back to the point: My 875P-T is completely unstable. If I drop the multi on my CPU and increase the FSB to even as high as about 220 my system spontaneously reboots. I know it's not the RAM as it had done 250 (DDR500) 2-2-2-5 in many other systems. I just don't think the board can hack it. Very upsetting. Oh, and anything other than 1:1 with the memory is a completely loss. Reboots ALL the time.

Disable everything in bios

Are you using a SATA drive?

check cpu temp

make sure you are not overclocked.

check the HSF to see if it is securely installed.

clean the bottom of the install CD.

It's nothing MS is going to help with. It's obviously data corruption. Memory is possible but I am thinking more of the onboard chipset (NB). ie. the board sucks.

P.S. Donnie, you're my favorite New Kid.

run memtest on the ram to make sure its ok.

I had some difficulty with my 875T a few months ago when I had one, and it basically came down to my PSU I was using just wasnt up to the task. I just got a Antec 550 server PSU and everything went solid for the next few weeks till I sold it.

I will try to run memtest off of a bootable cd. I have 2 OCZ Powerstreams so I don't think power is an issue. A 520Watt for the mobo and GPU and a 470W for everything else. But I am gonna get an OCZ 600W probably next week. 2 PSU's are TOO many wires to hide!!

Yeah, I guess not.

Ed, as I indicated via PM, one thing I noticed is these boards seem to hate when you chain HDDs with other devices on the channel. Be sure to give each drive its own channel - one for the CD-ROM, one for the drive. I've had a lot of problems since I started adding devices to the IDE channels (man, I miss all the IDE slots on my P4P800).

Be sure to update the bios as well. These boards aren't perfect, but I think just dismissing them as hopelessly defective is a little extreme. I can bench at 4900+ in 3DMark under Vapo at 274 FSB @ 1:1 - and we have seen Fugger's ridiculous clocks.

Hopefully bios updates will fix some of the RAM divider issues.

Thanks JD

I have updated to the latest bios (1-25-2005) and its still having problems. I do have 2 cdroms hooked up to 1 of the IDE channels maybe I will try to hook up just one.

I also miss all the SATA and IDE channels of my P4C800E. I had to buy a 4port PCI Sata card cause of all the drives I have, but it has not came in yet.

Also, does your chip allow you to select ANY multi from 14-18? Mine does and according to CPU-Z it is NOT an ES. Also when I did eventually get into windows, I pulled up CPU-Z 1.27 and my vcore was all over the place from 1.2 to 1.425 and it even changed from the 18 multi to the 14 multi right before my eyes. It was weird.
