First post. New project underway, new to A64. may need help

Hello everyone. Well first off i would like to say hi to everyone that has opened up my first thread. And i`m sorry if this is in the wrong forum but looking through the list i could not find a better suited one me thinks. I`m sure the admin will move it if it`s wrongly situated haha.

anyway, brief history. I have been building pc`s for 4 or 5 years now and been a member to futuremark forums for most of those years. Picked up a vast array of tips and help and also helped many others i think. Ok cut to the chase.

Basically i have just entered the world of A64 after 2 years of joy using my current rig. click here to see what i`m running

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7994625

I`m putting together a new project which consists of ( only important parts for such o/cing)

Winchester 3200
DFI NF4 Ultra-D
X850XT
1gb Gskill 4400le
XP 120 and 120 ystech fan (125cfm)
Tagan 480psu

Basically i`m a little worried reading all the many excellent posts here about o/cing cpus and RAM because there are many things i have never come across before. etc HTT. I`m trying to understand without having my new project up and running. If anyone can point me in the direction of a really good informative guide to overclocking a A64 chip and RAM i would be most grateful. Or could throw me some pointers in what i should start the testing with in terms of altering the bios.

I admit i`m not the greatest ever o/cer but i do understand the basics of multis, timings and FSB`s. My problem is when i get a problem and i dont have the bottle to find another way around. Would there be many people here willing to kinda take me under there wing via MSM or something explaining bit by bit step by step? I will have this pc running all the time with the new project on beside me so it would be pretty sweet if i had a little help at the time of me finding max speeds of things. If you get my drift lol . What do you think i could achieve with the hardware i have bought?? i would be more than happy with 275x9 lol i guess thats kiddies play for you guys haha i`ve been looking at your seriously high o/c`s and i`m impressed to say the least.

Hope to here from a few of you if you can help me soon.
thanks for your time

reading up, persistence, and experimentation are the keys to overclocking.

here are some tips on a64 clocking
http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=299229

Well, I am sure you can achieve around 10x270 HTT speed 1:1 with timings 2.5-3-3-5 or 9x300 1:1 2.5-4-3-7. These are just possible overclocks. Good luck and have fun!

Get a decent PSU. OCZ 520 or more will be needed. A Tagan 480 at bout 80 bucks, wont cut the bread for a 2k system. Volt sags, etc.

thanks alot guys...Dont understand this quote though. I`m sure this Alist PSu will do the job fine.. surely 520 is complete rubbish. I mean what on earth will need more than that. The rails on the tagan 480 are meant to be spot on from what i have read in various magazine articles.
