Cant get past 218fsb with Neo2

I just upgraded to an MSI neo2 platinum and a 3000+ A64 939. No matter how much I played with the bios I cant seem to get past 218fsb..... My rams are HyperX 3200 ( BH-5). Is it a compatibility issue and is there a fix besides buying new rams? Thanks all....

BTW Ive been out of touch with the overclocking world for a while now so its prolly simple, Im just out of ideas....

ram i slot 1+2
set HT to 3x
cas=2
trp=2
ras-to-cas=2
tras=5
set agp to 67mhz

next flip the board over and do the 3.3v to cap mod
250-270mhz now easy.

see what the issue is is that if you set I think it is trp or ras-to-cas to 2 in bios even if you have 2.85v selected your only getting 2.7v or so to vdimm . so oyu can set at 2-3-3-5 and boot to windows and use a64 tweaker and reset back to 2-2-2-5 "PITA" or use booster or better yet cap mod as bh-5 can do 3.3v 24/7 in its sleep

Ive set the vdimm to 2.85v and set timings to 2-2-2-5 before and it didnt work..... do you think I need more voltage than that to do 220fsb? Im pretty sure my bh5 should do that easy with even 2.7v vdimm...... as for modding, Im not to sure if I wanna do any modding to this board as Im not gonna overclock it alot, its just going to be aircooled....... maaybe Ill try the A64 tweaker nd ram booster... thanks...

As for HTT yes Ive tried 3x and it was a no go.....

MY BH-5 does 271mhz at 3.65v but can't do 220mhz either at 2.85v in bios thats why I said to try cap mod or booster if FSB is important

When I had OCZ 3700EB (2x512) I couldn't break 220 either regardless of Vdimm.

I got some OCZ 4200EL Platinum (TCCD) and I run 260 at 2.5-3-3-10 easily.

I didn't keep looking for the top end, but I think it was 270 at 2.5-3-3-10. I did 275 at 3-3-3-10 but did not try any higher.

This is with a stock Neo2, no mods.

Thanks Chooseone..... anything else I need to know after taht mod? Does it just increase the vdimm a certain amount ie 2.85v in bios equals 3.3v actual or will it give me the 3.3v option in the bios?

Kanavit, the model # for the bh-5 hyperX is khx3200 and not khx3200A... sure way is to take the hs of the ram and looking at teh actual chip..... if you got your ram recently it wont be bh-5

Super Stokey I did disable that option....

What kind of speed am I looking at with this cpu on air? stepping is 0447 and cooling will be with Zalman 7000, with the nice Vancouver weather, inside case temp would be around 5c......would I get 2.5g?

with that mod, your vdimm will be equal to your 3.3v rail. If you do the 3.3 psu rail mod you can take it even higher. It won't give you the option in bios, whatever vdimm you set in bios it will be the same as your 3.3v rail, since you are attaching a 3.3v wire directly to ram. Doesn't matter what you set in bios.

With 5c case temp you'll be rockin. I'm at 28c case temps at 2.5ghz with Zalman7000 and load doesn't break 53c, so you should be significantly lower assuming you have AS5 and Zalman seated well. And with that stepping you should easy hit 2.5 maybe 2.7 with those low temps. Good thing about recent steppings is the mem controller rocks allowing 1T high fsb and htt.

Thanks Amilian....

So if I do the cap mod, my max vdimm is whatever my 3.3r is..... if I wanna go higher will teh OCZ ram booster work without doing the vdimm mod? ... From the looks of it this cpu looks very promising, so far 2750mhz superpi stable.....
