Exclamation FX-55 @ 3120Mhz on Water!....

Have been playing around with my new week 45 FX-55 today and managed 3120Mhz PI Stable!...

My week 41 wouldn't even post at 3000Mhz!...

Got my fastest ever SuperPi time at 26s.

Think I've got a good chip here!

Cinders.

I've yet to super pi mine (I went straight to 3DMark2001 ) but I set up my week 35 FX-55 with my new water setup yesterday and scored over 35200 @ 3030mhz.... will try and squeeze more. If I can get over 3100mhz like cinders I will be thrilled!!

i think the "Ez cheese cooling" was a hint at being a joke.

3.1ghz on water alone is nice, sounds like a 3.6ghz-on-phasechange-chip to me.

Thumbs up

I have to admit I don't run this CPU at 3120Mhz for normal use, that was just to see how far I could push it using SuperPi. XP wasn't stable at all... only Server2003 would run at all... I'm currently running this processor at 250 (2-2-2-7) x 12 = 3000 (@ 1.63v) and it's rock stable in all my apps (touch wood!)

I have spent a full day overclocking this baby and I have learnt some more about overclocking. This CPU has behaved differently to my older one. Before with my older one when it crashed I'd just whack up the voltage and it'd go some more until it reached it's wouldn't go anymore...

I found something strange with this one, it seems to react better to lower voltages rather than higher ones!... This time when I got my first blue screen, I whacked the voltage up to 1.75v and no luck, going to 1.8v wouldn't help either, but I found if I just went up a gradual bit, ie. from 1.55 to say 1.6 (i normally would have gone to say 1.7, 1.8 at this point) it'd work fine. I found that this cpu has a sweet spot between 1.55v - 1.70v - any higher than 1.70 and it would have a detremental effect.

I was thinking of removing the heatspreader but didn't dare! I've heard it's good for a couple of degrees but didn't dare remove it incase I damaged the core in some way (probably putting the heatsink on!)

It's been another learning experience for me and I am very pleased with my result, of course people are going to question it, but if people didn't question things we wouldn't get anywhere would we?... Please feel free to check the CPU-Z screenshots, you'll find them all legit - I'm not a cheater at all, I take great pride in my integrity.

Hey - is this an extremsystems record for an FX-55 on plain water?...

Cinders.

P.S. I have an Week41 55 for sale now....
