My first x800 - going to be any good for o/cing?..

Just got my new Saphire X800 PE this morning. I wanted to make sure the card is working properly and is decent at overclocking before installing my watercooling gpu block and ram heatsinks.

Anyway on the standard aircooling you get with the card I can manage 540 Core and 610 on memory, is this any good?...

Any ideas what I might be able to get on water?...

I haven't had any experience with this card so I'm just wondering what people have been clocking theirs to on air and water so i can get a rough idea about this card.

Thanks,
Cinders.

That's a pretty good clock for the memory stock, some XT PE's can go higher with the core....

That looks like an excellent o/c!... What cooling are you using, just watercooling?.. what blocks you got?...

I've just spent the past 8 hours re-building my machine, this time I've fitted a Enheim 1250 pump, maze4 chipset block, maze4 gpu block and some nice solid copper heatsinks on the ram...

I'm just running it in at the moment, will keep my o/c's on this new card posted...

Any mods to do on this card?... I had my 6800 running at 1.5 vCore by flashing the bios...

Thanks,
Cinders.

except in doom3, an x800xt is generally reguarded to be better than a 6800gt/ultra because of higher fill rate. Not only that but nvidias drivers use more "tweaks" to boost performance. also nvidia has ps3 but this has not been a big factor for most since so few games use ps3 and also ps2 can do what ps3 can but with more passes. 540 core is just weak, that is less than 4% overclock. getting any x800xt over 600 on the ram is good since I see alot of guys unable to oc the ram save for 10, maybe 20MHz. ram matters more than core too since the cores 16 pipes, high core clocks arent too important if its bandwith limited. you might need vmods and watercooling to break 600MHz core, as for ram, vmods to it could send it to 630-650.

Well I'm happy! (for now)

I vMod'd the GPU to 1.75v and can now run 630/610 stable which is a over 100mhz increase which ain't bad!

I've got 90335 aquarmarks which I never thought I'd reach! I could only manage 80,000 with my 6800 Ultra o/c'd at 475/1220!

I also get 35,821 3dmark 2001, 14827 3dmark 2003 and 6,000 3dmark 2005 so it's not bad really... It's quite a bit quicker than my old 6800 ultra.

I think my system is as fast as I can o/c it on water now, everything is max'd up!

Cinders.

I just bought a X800 vivo and flashed it to 16 pipes and can't get stable over 540 core myself. My old 12 pipe X800pro got to 560-570 without problems.

do you have links to the threads showing the volt mods , I tried search and found the pencil mod is that good enough or what would you recomend??

memory stable to 614 would like 600 core too

I just did the pencil mod on the resistor for the vGPU - I'm thinking about doing the memory on this board as well, did you do yours?...
