New Case? Simple, Slient, and decent cooling

I current have an Antec 300 but I am tired of the noise it puts out. Thus I am looking to replace it with a simple yet good preforming air cooled case. I don't care about fans as I intend to replace them with new fans. Cable management is a must! Also try to stay away from full towers.

I just got an Antec P183 and I love it. With all 4 fans running at ~1300 RPMS (and the CPU Fan @ ~1600) it is still quiet and cool; My Q9550 @ 4GHz idles between 37-40*C

I posted some pics in the AIR COOLED GALLERY thread, check them out.

As have I.

It's a beautiful case, I love the black and white colour scheme. It's supposed to be a very quiet case. But sadly it's not on the New Zealand market yet.

Looks nice but no USA distributor. To bad it does look to be a decent case too.

Replace the crappy Antec fans and keep the 300.

i think the antec 300 is a pretty poorly built case (so many points where things can vibrate causing an annoying noise its mind boggling). the very minimum in cable management didnt please me either. i would go with a lancool k-56 or lancool k-58. theyre relatively cheap, much better cable management, has anti vibration mechanisms built in, and a simple and clean layout. would have easily bought one of those over the antec 300 if they were out when i built my system. instead i get to admire my buddys

have u tried reworking the fans there are way to many in the case normally, try pulling the front fans, then if its still bad get a good fan for the top/back and if its still its your hard drives or gpu with a bad profile so get a good 5.25" bay for them

Its the front fans for sure. But my current fans are nearly silent in open-air. They are a few years old, but are Silverstone 7 blade sleeve bearing fans.

I have been looking at these. Need to find a few decent reviews on them.

silverstone fans suck and make alot of noise, u dont even need fans in the front there will be negative pressure if u remove them and it will force air into the case from the vent holes and open fan slots

they will be fine, HDDs need to be from 35-50c (HDD are mechanical they need proper lube), they should be fine without a fan on them. if u are concerned get a yate slow to put over them. or boot to a non raid install and set the controller to ahci or ide mode and do non destructive read tests on them and see how hot the get in smart i will bet that they dont go over 40-43c with no fan in front of them if u have the pack 2 fans used.

u could also replace them with some slow-mid yates or if u really want no noise the scyth gentle typhoon and u want a fan in front of the drives for peace of mind

I have gentle typhoon ap14's in the front of my 300 and it's still a tad loud as my htpc. They are dead silent in free air though.

I think it might be the honeycomb mesh combined with the front filter. Air turbulence of the honeycomb so close to the fan blades maybe?

I am actually planning on removing the mesh before I put the pc back together to see how it helps.

I'll try to repost here when I get it back together to let you all know how it helped, if at all.

Thanks for the post. I think I might cut the honey comb completely out. This should help with noise alot. I will re-post when I get some results.
