Extremly designed CPU POT concept
Hi, IŽm designing new CPU POT. I post here only concept of copper base. Alu tube is not so important. Base will be made of copper cylinder with radius 45mm and height 50mm. I designed it with a large surface area and a lot of sharp edges to bubble creating. Weight of base is calculated to 2,373kg.
Contact area is square shape because CPU IHSs are square and it would be much easier to insulate this little "cube" than cone.
What do you think about this design? Will it be good or do you know any other improves to maximalize the cooling power?
Thanks

Thats going to be really hard to make, how much surface are does it have?

Hi,
the basic round to quad... i think round to round with fase is better or square, running around with fase.
That brings a heat exchange over the entire surface.

IŽll make it on CNC mill. It will not be so hard to make.
I calculated surface area and it is more than 8600 sq.mm

Nice design . But judging from the weight it will be most usable on PII . If it runs into cold bug on Intel-a you wont get out of it in quite a while . Btw, for this design i would go with angled base, you can look at pots i made to see what im pointing at

Thanks, I think, it will be usable on Intel CPUs too, but user will has to be very carefull with pouring LN2. The base shape will be changed. IŽm thinking on two possible solutions. Round to round contact area (as you used on your POT) or round to square contact area but round to round will be much easier to design.

Hi, I am back with some new pictures! I made some little changes in design, but it is still really similar to the first one. Copper base is already done. Now just finish some aluminium parts and whole POT will be completly done! During the weekend my friend will test this POT and post here some opinions :-)

That is a good point, no threads?! Maybe it was pressed into place?

If its threaded simple Teflon Tape works very well at making a leak proof seal.

i don't think its threaded though mate!
i think vince did something like this with a older cpu pot. Very cool for someone without a cnc lathe

Both parts are connected by pressure compressed.

So, weight of this POT is about 1,8kg and it is 170mm tall. By the results of tests IŽll improve design. Thank you everyone

yes, it looks as snowman some knowledges: one minute after infusion nitrogen base of pot had -15°C from room temperature 21°C...the lowest temperature after infusion nitrogen to 2/3 of pot height was -80°C...I think, the pot is very great
