Help: Sleeving wires

After you guys get the sleeving kits what do you use to shrink the end wraps? Are you guys using heat guns?

I use a pocket blow torch. I'm very careful with it to avoid melting the sleeving or staining the heat shrink.

I just use a lighter. Heat gun works too.

A hair dryer works well. You can also use a lighter for black heatshrink, but it's easy to burn it, so not what I'd recommend.

My friend has a torch with a heat-gun end. It worked great for me.

I use a lighter to melt the ends and heatgun to shrink. My heatgun has 300C and 600C settings, but 300C is more than enough.
Tryed hairdryer - shrinks slow and sometimes not completely.

yea.. heat gun for ends are bad.. the whole sleeve tends to fray like crazy xD... i used my candle to melt the ends and the heat gun to shrink it.. one other issue i ran into the the candle when heatshrinking was that the heatshrink would occasionally seem to create folds... so it looked kinda bad :/

I used a hair dryer which worked fine. Next time i might try and find a heat gun though, the hair dryer seemed to not always completely shrink the heatshrink, as aka_GK mentioned.

Heat guns are the only method I can recommend. It's far too easy to burn it with candles, soldering irons and lighters and you never get an even shrink with any of those.

You can get a heat gun fairly cheap. $20 at Harbor Freight.

Heat gun would be the perfect tool. My hair dryer don't seems to have enough heat.

You could also put your hand on the back of your hair dryer to get the hair dryer to heat up more. This stops the air going through from the back end.

Same.

Mine tends to blow cool air after a minute or so when it is set to HOT and HIGH.

Piece of crap.

ur suposed to continuously rotate it at about 4 inches, and not leave it in 1 spot the entire time.
