Scythe mugen 2 and AM3, is this good?

My CPU temp at max load is 11c over the mobo temp, at 100% CPU load, with a 1600 RPM fan on the cooler. It's the AMD Athlon II X4 620 quad core AM3 CPU.

The room was pretty warm and the mobo read 28c, cpu 39c. All the fans are the nexus quiet kind, except for the CPU fan which is a 1600 RPM antec. Still a quiet fan.

At night the room gets cooler(high 60s/low 70s). If I turn all the fans in the case down to 5v where they barely spin, the mobo is 25c, and the cpu 40c, at full load.

I ask because it was difficult to install. It doesn't bolt on from the top, it bolts on from the bottom, which makes it very awkward to screw in. I have to hold the mobo to the heatsink while screwing it on, which means there's a chance for it to move around and for the heatsink to get pulled on and off slightly as I screw it on. I remounted it once but the performance didn't change, which means I either messed up both times or this is as good as it gets.

Please let me know if my aforementioned results make any sense for this CPU.

I would change the stock fan on the heat sink.
or you could lap the chip my phenom II 940 is lapped.
seems to help a lot. the heat sink is already flat.

Pick up a Gentle Typhoon 1450rpm, it's the perfect fan for that heatsink.

I'm running one and never pass 45C in OCCT with CPU at 1.45v 3.8Ghz

I don't use the stock fan since it wouldn't run at 5v, I use a 120mm Antec fan that came with the Antec 300 case I bought. Right now the room is semi cool, 28c mobo, 44c CPU at full load, and the thing doesn't make a sound with everything running at 5v. I think I'll try remounting it. I am running the CPU at stock.

The nexus fans are 1000 rpm @ 12v, so I can imagine how little they move at 5.

I am curious, how did you guys install this properly? It bolts from the bottom of the board. So you need one hand to hold the mobo, the other hand to hold the heatsink. Do you screw it in with your foot?

I used a second person This is definitely a three hand installation heatsink.

It is tricky but I did it on my own. Sorry but cannot remember how. Just get into your best MacGyver mode and you can do it.
