Pictures of the crating it will ship in. This is actually from my last cascade shipment but it will look the same.

Parts starting to arrive and I know that the floated oil sep is huge but it was the only one I could find at the time. I will be using a smaller model from ACR i think once it arrives.

Hmmm tasty:

Leak free after a major battle with leaks...please excuse the ugly brzing it was the result of 3 different removals to fix leaky flare joints so after 3 tries it had a little buildup...but hey its leak free and the brazing was purged...:

Oilsep change and adapter fittings

Pressure testing the first stage and will vacuum all day tomorrow and charge Tomorrow night to show ice.
Second stage starts Friday....

First stage Ice

Please excuse the mess I havent cleaned the joints nor have i insulated ect so it looks a bit rough at the moment.

Or a tripod

I'd go with the one that is apparently bigger sitting on the top.. not too much foul in a large condenser. The smaler one is the same copeland from the SS next to it appears, so.. go bigger

Its actually 3 times the size of the small condenser next to it. Just a bad picture angle.

Heres a better angle:

Hmmm tasty ...roasted HX anyone.

Completed the base and mounting holes, brazed the HX, and painted the parts and base...
Flares and TXV pressure testing next.

well i would think that that big of a oil sep will keep your static pressures down like a expation tank would as u are adding that much volume to the system can't wait to see how this one turns out for ya

The price was right 80.00 shipped but I didnt realize how big it was and would honestly never have bought it knowing what a pain its going to be.

That said I ordered a backup which if it arrives in time will be used in its place.
Unfortunately cost plays a big role in what I can use and a Henry s-5181 runs me 160.00 at United which is twice the cost of this one.

This is the backup and im not sure of its dimensions either but it too was a nice price:
AC&R COMPONENT OIL SEPARATOR 2-026-147. CAT. NO. S-5883T. 450 PSIG MAX. W.P. 3/8" F.T.P GAS CONNECTIONS.3100KPA REFRIGERANT. R12-R22-R502

Rufus, I used one slightly smaller than this one in a previous build I did awhile back and I also found that it served as a large heat sink which was an added benefit I wasn't expecting. That oil sep was the Temprite 502 which NoL sold me and I could almost bypassed the desuper it absorbed so much heat....

The Temprite 505 WILL work but it adds more brazing because the inlet/outlet are ridiculous and it also reduces my clearance to my frame top to just 2 inches (which does fit but its a PITA)

Well my ACR (Henry) S-5883T Floated Oil Sep arrived and it has FPT connectors (Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr).
So I have 2 options...1 purchase flare extensions or 2 take my chances and try and braze copper to steel like a plate HX.

Any of you guys ever use an oil sep with FPT connectors before?

I wouldn't braze to it without tearing it apart as you'll roast that top seal. Better getting a threaded fitting that you can seal up and braze copper to the fitting.

My gauges are male and I simply add a collar and use loctite.
If thats the case I can loctite a female threaded connector and it wont leak under pressure right.

Ice Stage 2 Sunday night.

Stage 2 brazed and plumbed with the exception of the bypass which is stubbed until tomorrow when i pick up the brass fittings for it.

For now its sitting over night at 300 psi with all joints covered with snoop for bubble detection.

Please excuse the mess I havent cleaned the joints nor have i insulated ect so it looks a bit rough at the moment.
